By the way there is a good guide by a guy from Brazil he write an English Guide very good to disable that bloatware stuff that came with windows 10, very nice guide though He made a guide to use CMD to properly disable things, with the Power shell included, also he recomends to dowload install_wim_tweak.exe but yeah very nice topic! https : // fdossena.com/?p = w10debotnet/index_1703 .frag
Wow, talk about a brick wall. Is Install_wim_tweak still a recommended tool for debloatation of Windows 10?
Hi all, with the latest windows 10 1809 version running the command: install_wim_tweak.exe /p /l , to list all the windows packages, the package Microsoft-Windows-Cortana is not visible anymore (hence can't be removed). Does any of you how to unlock or make visible that package again with install_wim_tweak? thanks in advance.
After build 1607 a lot of components were made sub-packages burried in others. Not sure if it's a good idea anymore to remove them, if even possible. Use GPO to disable it.
Thanks! I've been using this method until version 1803 and all worked fine. I'm trying to understand how to unhide this hidden package as with NTLite you can actually remove it. In fact for 1809 I've used install_wim_tweak to remove the majority of the packages and NTLite to remove the hidden Cortana package (which breaks the start menu, but i don't care as I'm using other 3rd parties start menu.
In newer version it isn't hidden, it's a sub-package inside a bigger one, so removing it would need to know where it is exactly together with ALL dependencies. NTLite is known for doing everything. That doesn't mean it's done properly. Since i prefer stability and reliability (also for future CUs) i stopped removing such components and use GPO to disable those components.
