OK ... after a long time using freeware AVs, i managed to switch to ESET. So far so good ... Although i dislike installers that don't offer an option to deactivate features, at least the program didn't nag after deactivating certain 'online-features'. First scan passed without findings . That looks more promising than my latest test with a BitDefender Promo some months back. Program didn't stop nagging about deactivated features with a red exclamation mark and pop-ups. Gaming, some WIM>ESD conversions and similiar tasks needed to run in 'Gaming-Mode' to utilize full system power. At least it rendered the system useless after 3 days, no way to boot nor repair . Thanks to ESET, sid_16 and all involved. All other winners ... ENJOY.
I'm using ESET SS since last 3 years and my system is not slowdown/infected, its one of the best security software. I tested many including BTS/Fsecure/Avast/Avira/Gdata/AVG & many other but settle down with ESET. Eset is improving from version to version and the experts are saying the version 9 has much improved HIPS and firewall.
