Note.
net.max_halfopen: This option specifies how many connections µTorrent should attempt to establish simultaneously at any given time. On systems running Windows XP with Service Pack 2 (SP2), if your TCPIP.sys file is unpatched, you should leave this option at its default value.

3. Scrol down the list to net.outgoing_max_port and set it 65535.
Note.
net.outgoing_max_port: This sets the upper limit for the outgoing port range. If this option is set to some invalid port number or some value less than "net.outgoing_port," it gets ignored, and only "net.outgoing_port" gets looked at (meaning the outgoing port "range" will actually be a single outgoing port).

Note. With this settings the 4227 error should not be so comon. And other problems would not be so comon issue.

As I explaned seeting the connection attempte per second to very haigh value is actulay overloading your conection ports.

The only real solution that I see for this problem is IP v6...with 16777215 (FFFFFF) ports available, while IP v4 only has 65535 (FFFF) ports avilable.

so this is a solution for error 4227....but not for youtube speed right? however i have other question:

when you say to set port 65535, should i open it in my router?

have you an msn contact?

The port number 65535 is the higest port alowed to be used.
So you will be able to use the whole range 1 to 65535.
You can set your router for port forwarding and UPnP.

Abot youtube speed...
When do you expirience speed problems, while you use uTorrent ??
Or there is a speed problem when you dont use any Torrent programs ?

Hi petar,

I've tried your tips, with a hex edited tcpip.sys in system32\drivers & winsxs\, also lower values but the connections are still not stable. Once utorrent gets a little load, other connection starts disconnecting ie. vpn. After like 30mins, browsing starts to slow down or break randomly. But while in DMZ (i dont use port fwd), incoming keep alive connection such as ftp/http/telnet/rdp works fine (no disconnection)?

And for some reason, CrackTcpip.sys is permanently blocked by my Vista Sp1 x64, even in F8 boot or signed while in testsign mode. Other 3rd party self-signed drivers does load successfully, but not CrackTcpip.sys as I checked in the hidden non-pnp device list and net start.

Anyway thanks, sure good to see many peeps are lookin/workin into this matter hehe...

The NIC/driver/router is going to have a limit to the number of concurrent connections and/or half open connections, no? A setting of 100-200 should reduce the instability and 4227 errors. We still need to know if youtube is slow while torrenting only or also with no other network activity..

Ok, I know it's been asked before, but I've been lurking on this topic since it was first posted.

for tcpip v .16627 on WinVista Premium x64?

Phew, I'm getting REALLY frustrated with this Windows Vista ****. My problem is following:

I am using Linksys WUSB54GC Wireless Network adapter. First of all Linksys didn't have any Vista x64 drivers available, but I was able to find functioning drivers made my mr_smith or something like that. Now I'm facing serious problems with this TCP "syn_sent but syn_ack not received" problem. Thing is that _almost_ every (lets say 1 out of 2) 4226 event appears in Vista event log, but Internet dies! It says connection is limited. If I try to disable the adapter, network sharing center dies and I have to kill it. After that I am also unable to shutdown (it hold to "shutting down" -phase). If I reboot without trying to disable network adapter it reboots nicely and Internet works again.

Ok, well, I have tried atleast 4 different kind of hacks to go-around this TCP issue. but EVERYTIME I patch the connection limit and restart to normal mode (have to do this in safe mode), it tells "service or group dependency was unable to start" (or something like that). I am unable to start DHCP, Firewall or any network service from control panel -> services. When I reboot to safe mode and unpatch, everything works again.

So basically so far I have two options: To face the problem with 4226 almost every day and reboot everytime it appears and my Internet dies or to downgrade to Windows XP, which I really would not like to do.

If someone comes up with a solution and visits Finland anytime, I'll offer him or her a beer, I promise!

I have Windows Vista x64 ultimate unless that was clear already.

I recently updated vista sp1 32 bit with tcpip driver version 6.0.6001.18000

Now i am unable to change the tcpip limit...Can anyone help me wid this...Can it be done without ruinin my windows startup
