It's certainly edited correctly, I edited it myself and it removes the messages on my computer. But like bjf2000 said, if you don't edit/replace the backups too, it will just get switched back by the system.
Are there any way to make 64bit version of TCPIP.SYS signed as 3rd party driver or remove the embedded certificate
XP1 ... I'm at a bit of a loss, but I'm tired atm and might have missed something, but ... I just checked that MD5 against the user32.dll.mui that I'm using right now and you've got the right file ... not sure what's going on!
dumppq, I'm sure I'm being dense about this and missing something, but I just went to open your user32.dll.mui file in PE Explorer and Resource Hacker, and they both show absolutely no resources whatsoever (normally you would get an entire tree). Yet when I open mine, all the resources appear. I'm on 32-bit at the moment, but I can't believe that would make a difference. I can't think of any other explanation, however.
719-735 is Code: 719Safe Mode 724Vista (TM) 725Vista (TM) 726Server (R) 2008 Standard 727Server (R) 2008 Enterprise 728Server (R) 2008 Datacenter 729Vista (TM) 730(R) Server (R) 2008 Embedded 731Web Server (R) 2008 732Server (R) 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems 733Server (R) 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems 734Server (R) 2008 for Itanium-Based Systems 735Server (R) 2008 Since I'm not running Server 2008, no real reason to remove more than necessary! Some people were removing the "Safe Mode" messages as well ... (why) I have no idea, lol ... all I removed were the lines for "Test Mode" as well the "Windows Vista build #blah" (which [should] also vanish from Safe Mode sessions). I agree, I guess try another file, no idea why mine isn't working for ya!
dumppq, I noticed also that you deleted your lines entirely, while others just blank them out or leave double quotation marks. That might related to it as well in his case, who knows.
Can someone please post the original tcpip.sys (6.0.6001.18000)? I accidentaly applyed the patch twice, so it overwrited the tcpip.original with the patched one, and now I can't revert it to the original... Thank you in advance!
jale, it's worth doing. There's no point living with "Test Mode." If you don't want to boot from the DVD for some reason, I'm pretty sure it can be done with the takeown and icacls commands (like is done for the replacement of the tcpip.sys file in the first place).
If somebody wants it I can whip it up today ... although my user32.dll.mui wasn't working for somebody else, still don't know why. :X I'll just whip up a batch file.
