I prefer using the ISO method to create a bootable ISO.I just got used to it since that was the only way I could get it done before RyanVM, Powerpacker etc. Also, i'm aware that changes were made to winnt.sif but I did not make any manual changes. I left the version that was automatically created as is. That version was perfect for what I wanted to do.
I'm still trying to figure out how to combine XP PRO and XP Home on one DVD, with driverpacks and OEM BIOS files. I tried combining them with powerpacker and then integrating: failed. Tried integrating and then Powerpacker: failed. Have one more idea. I'll test it this afternoon.
I tried that idea and it failed, miserably. However, I posted at the driverpacks forum and Mr Smartepants gave me some info that i'll be testing over the next couple of days. His suggestions seems very time consuming but might be the only way.
mr_smartepants suggested that I create one edition of XP and make it Multi-OEM with drivers etc. and make sure it works 100%. Then make another edition and do the same. When I have completed all the editions that I want, I must create folders named XPHO (Home OEM), XPPO (Pro OEM) etc. and copy the relevant files there. Only trick is to copy ALL the files for the first edition and omit the OEM folders from subsequent editions. I must then use PowerPAcker to pack the first edition that has a complete OEM folder and then pack the remaining editions that do NOT have OEM folders. They will share that one OEM folder. I tried it and the only problem is that OEM Scan is looking for the Windows directory on the d:\ drive. It cannot find it and then does not pre-activate. The drivers etc all work. OEMScan DID work when the editions were separate but it seems as if PowerPacker may have messed something up.
Quote "Note:Oembios filesets are not included in the downloads,so you must first download all the "Uncompressed" oembios filesets from HERE and the recompile the archive again with 7 zip only before you integrate the archive with RyanVm Integrator" Ok so I take you mean you unzip the "WinXP_MULTIOEM_Addon_UpdatedbySushil1576.7z" file put the oembios's in their respective xp fileset folders. Then do you re zip the file with 7-zip so Ryanvm can use it? That is what I have been doing then I go to next step Integrating the above mentioned file with RyanMV but all I get is a "error :No entries*.ini found, Exiting" Hopefully I explained this well
Ok figured it out read sushil1576 previous post, quote "Note: You can put the oembios filesets even after integrating the Multi-OEM addon.Just put them in the correct folders in the root of the integrated XP Source" got it to integrate sorry for the noob question
Hi, Sorry for asking what's probably a dumb question... what's the difference between downloading the >1GB RAR file and WINXP_MULTIOEMv2.1 Sushi's pack and what are the benefits of each process? Edit: I've seen a Mr Smartepants download for RyanVM (541-OEMSCAN_ADDON_MULTIOEM-v1.8) which appears to be similar to the Sushi one, so that's three potentially different ways of going about it not to mention building everything myself, hence my confusion. I've had plenty of experience with RMPREPUSB, WinInstallFromUSB, DriverPacks and NLite (there are of course different tools for each activity but these are the ones I find most reliable) and have already set up a generic OEM disk that supports the following OEM vendor XP installs - 2 Dell desktops, different hardware 1 HP mini tower 1 Philips Freeline (which I've modded to use the DIXONSXP BIOS instead as it means the thermal sensors actually work!) 1 Dell laptop 1 HP laptop 1 Lenovo laptop 1 IBM desktop They're all getting a bit long in the tooth so I want to nuke them back to post-SP3 clean XP before passing them down to the family but I have had trouble with all of them, when trying to use the COAs - mainly due to the fact they're scuffed to bits and barely readable. A single DVD which will allow me to blitz any one of these systems back to a barebones preactivated XP Pro, would solve that problem and I can spend some time evaluating the different options but to be honest, if I can avoid spending a month playing around with coasters for the sake of a one time burn I'd rather do that.
Thanks for your great tutorial I wanna try this WINXP_MULTIOEMv2.1 But I still don't understand, I'm new here, and want to learn from you. With METHOD 1: I download and extracted WinXP_MULTIOEM.rar (With OEM Logos and themes) Extracted WinXP_MULTIOEM.rar here : OEM\bin OEM\FILESETS\XP\All Bios Archieved OEM\KEYS\XP_PRO\oemscan.exe OEM\KEYS\XP_PRO\oemscan.ini OEM\KEYS\XP_PRO\setkey.exe OEM\Logos OEM\OEMAUTO.exe Extract GRTMPOEM_EN CD to C:\GRTMPOEM_EN Copy and paste OEM folder to C:\GRTMPOEM_EN\OEM Copy WINNT.SIF to C:\GRTMPOEM_EN\I386 Is that correct? Thanks..
yea time to update this abit more. Im updating it once and for all by mirroring the OEMBIOS files to the same place as my OEM XPCD's.. Link coming later of course.
