The Media Center ISO I created had both x86 and x64 versions in it. I discovered today that this can't be used to upgrade an existing 64-bit installation, because it wants the 64-bit setup.exe. Clean installs are fine. So I created a separate ISO for each platform now.

Is there a way to fix my "mistake" in the combined ISO?

That's not ur mistake... plz see care fully u extract the 32 bit iso completely and then export all wim images ti install.wim in that folder making ur dvd have only 32 bit installation files but all images... so it is obvious thatu won't have access to files of 64 bit installation files from os... this problem was also faced during win 7 AIO

@ambidav why did you replace Faikee's data.dat file? Is something wrong with it? Please let us know. I noticed you uploaded a new file.

Thanks adit123tya. I'll try that. I'm using Windows 8 Pro x64 which was activated by KMS and used the free WMC key. There are lots of versions there, so the one I want to get is the windows 8 pro x64 N vl right?

For WMC you have to take a retail version - no VL one.

I used one after upgrading an activated Pro version to WMC (not connected to internet and thus not already re-activated) , it's also working for a fresh install of WMC on another machines... So you can install the free WMC upgrade key during or after fresh installation of WMC version
I noticed that an unique WMC upgrade key can activate both x86 or x64 version on the same hardware ...

Cheers for the guide made myself a x86/x64 PRO with WMC iso (using the WZT releases and my your 2 files.) worked like a charm. It asked for a Key I just put my free WMC key in that I was e-mailed and it worked. Now activated hassle free.

So just to clear it up.
Downloaded x86 WZT release (the PRO RTM one)
Downloaded x64 WZT release (the PRO RTM one)
Downloaded the DATA, EI File on the front page of this topic.
    Followed instructions.

Ended up with a DVD that could install:
    Windows 8 PRO x86
    Windows 8 PRO x64
Windows 8 PRO With WMC x86
Windows 8 PRO With WMC x64

Burnt to DVD/Copy to USB pen drive.
    Put it into laptop.
Install went fine, it prompted for key.
Put the key i got e-mailed from M$ in.
    The install finished up.
Windows was activated. Did not have to click add feature or anything like that it was just activated as soon as desktop showed.

Simple quick and easy took like 20 mins tops to make the ISO image.

So when you installed you entered your free Wmc key - did you need to activate online again ?

Yes sorry, when it was installing it showed a list of WIFI networks available to me. I picked my home network and put my home password in after that i was ofc connected to the internet before the desktop showed up.

Just leave network cable plugged in connected to the net or enter wifi details like i did and once you reach desktop you will be activated (if you made the ISO correctly)

Thanks...the point is moot anyway, since the resulting Media Center edition doesn't support upgrades; I didn't realize that.
