So i did the Create windows 8 pro with media center only and i have one question ,when it says ,delete the data.dat and replace it . That means that i have to replace it with the data.dat of my currently working windows 8 (activated with the wmc offer) cuz thats what i did ,i deleted the whole store folder and replace it with mien. Is this the correct way ? What will i need to do next ,just use the iso that i created ,install the windows ,any aditional steps ? EDIT: My image size is 664mb?
Ok,let`s take it stepwise. 1.I will restore the store forlder from the iso. 2.What`s up with that image size THx for the post BTOR
The question remains though ... from where do you get the data.dat file to replace the one you deleted?
Hi! Thanks for the detailed tutorial but I have one instruction that I can't understand. My question is where would I get the other "data.dat" to replace the deleted data.dat in "C:\win8\mount\Windows\System32\spp\store\data.dat"? Thank you.
The assumption here is that you have purchased and installed your own version of windows 8 pro and had activated it. and then using your own data file create your own version of windows with WMC included, easy of installing in the future.
I have a MSDN .iso "Windows 8 (multiple editions x64)" containing Windows 8 & Windows 8 Pro. I want create manually a .iso "Windows 8 Pro with WMC". I need to know which folders i have to create and where to put the files in the original MSDN.iso (multiple editions x64) decompressed. Thank you for your help
It doesn't matter for the most part. The steps in the tutorial show you exactly how to do it. In the end you should have a Windows 8 ProWMC iso.
Thanks for all replies Now, if I want to create this .iso Windows 8 Pro with WMC is activated in the first installation, is it possible? There some way to create this .iso pre-activated? Or necessarily I have to find some other alternative as 'Microsoft Toolkit' or other alternative? What would you recommend?
To be correct there will be only one Index left, 'ProfessionalWMC'. Code: WIM Information: --------------------- GUID: {EA03ABE1-6332-4DB6-909D-AC3C31EAAD4B} Image Count: 1 Compression: LZX Part Number: 1/1 Attributes: 0x8 RP_FIX Image Index: 1 ------------------- Name: Windows 8 Pro with Media Center Description: Windows 8 Pro with Media Center Flags: ProfessionalWMC Files: 82273 Folders: 18299 Expanded Size: 12079 MB
I read somewhere that Sysprep removes activation. Is this true or not? I personally haven't done it. I do know one can add startup batch or kms to the iso/install.wim.
It removes the activation status in sysprep. In Audit Mode i installed KMS Server Service and created 2 tasks for reactivation (DAILY and ONLOGON) with a little batch for activation commands. When the system starts for the first time it´s already activated . EDIT: Needed to activate in Audit Mode, as it refused the sysprep before .
