Big thank You all for the answers. So basically without data.dat from activated win8.1 Pro I cannot install key for activation. I can use my own data.dat for that, no problem have many. But I dont understand this : I made a Windows 8wmc iso 9 months ago with "Windows Download Integrator" and I just integrated wmc into windows 8 pro. I used an original Technet Win8Pro iso for integration. Never used any data.dat for that. Then I could install Win8wmc edition directly and enter any wmc key during installation or afterwards. Can it be that Windows download integrator put data.dat into iso ? Is there a way to put data.dat into my new created Win8.1wmc iso ?
Yes I wasn't trying to criticize him. I was just trying to relay to other readers that they should use their own also. Sorry ambidav
murphy78, I noticed you created a SuperAIO v2 image. Will you please guide me on how to create the same image? I'm on a really slow connection and the torrent is huge for me right now. I already have all MSDN images except N version (which is not my choice either) Combining W7~W8.1 x86/x64+ server editions, is what I'm looking for. Thanks for any help
ALPHAWAVES when you will make a NEW WINDOWS DOWNLOAD INTEGRATOR for WINDOWS 8.1 9600 RTM? I'm waiting for this tool,THANKS!
I have Windows 8 activated and it has WMC installed. If i create the media must i only use the WMC serial i used on this machine to get activated? I got WMC from the special offer when Win8 cames out.
Vista doesn't like having the extra system partition. It gives setup error and fails. 2008 works, but the 2011 variants give strange file error problems. All of the 2011 versions use fairly specialized boot.wim for setup, with the exception of multipoint. Even multipoint failed a sfc /scan after install using a different boot.wim, tho so I left it out. You could add those versions, but you'd likely need to make custom scripting to prepare the drives and apply images. The default windows install doesn't work for that.
The superaio v2 was more of a testing nightmare than an integration nightmare. To integrate such a thing you simply export the desired indexes to a new install.wim, rename them, (/flags "ProfessionalWMC" on the prowmc indexes) Then stuff them in a win8.1 x86 folder and delete the sxs folder since it's useless on a superaio. I attempted to do it using the new install.esd recovery compression that is so awesome, but it crashes dism on certain older windows versions like win7x64 home premium N
Thanks a lot for your reply, Actually I haven't had any experience on AIO image creation, let alone image tools environment... The only thing that I did was Win8.1 AIO, this very thread, thanks to ambidav. Will you please create a new thread and share your scripts too? It would be really great and helpful to have a W7~W8.1 all in an image especially for people like me with such a restricted access to internet. Again thanks for your time and reply
I'm getting an error with my 8 in 1 aio on installtion. Says "Windows cannot install the required files. The file may be missing or corrupt. Make sure all fles required for installtion are available and restart the installation. Error code 0x80070570." I got the error with an earlier .iso so I re-did the image since I had messed with it a little, but this time I followed everything to the letter. The new disc verified with ImageBurn against the new .iso. I'm using an old IDE drive since it's just for testing--don't see how that would matter. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Update: For anyone having this problem: check the hashes on your downloads. One of mine was off, and that was what was causing the problem.
What if I don't want to include Enterprise in the ISO, not creating said folder is all I'll have to do right? Thanks for the effort.
I would think leaving out the folder and skipping the command lines for Enterprise would cover it. Not 100% sure. Why not try it and report back? I'd also be interested in whether the .iso fits on a standard DVD (the complete .iso now requires a dual layer).
Don't forget to try complete installs--sometimes problems show up there, as I reported earlier. Thanks for your volunteer work!
In my SuperAIO v2 testing and during the botched en-US first 8.1 leak testing, we had successful installs but botched system files. You can test the integrity after installs using a "SFC /SCANNOW" it should compare the built-in sha1 hashes to make sure the files aren't mal-formed.
Does Windows ADK for Windows 8.1 Preview run on final release, or is there a new version for Windows 8.1 RTM ?
So, till "imagex /flags "ProfessionalWMC" /info C:\win81aio\win81\sources\install.wim 3 "Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center" "Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center"" everything went smooth, but then I got an error saying that the "imagex" is not recognized as an internal or external command. After said error, every other command is giving me an error, too. I just tried it on the RTM, and it ran just fine. Edit: I even tried to cd to where imagex.exe is present then it says Windows 8.1 Pro with Media Center is already in the name or something.
