When I Write this command I get error 87 dism /Export-Image /SourceImageFile:c:\win81aio\temp\install.wim /SourceIndex:1 /DestinationImageFile:c:\win81aio\win81\sources\install.esd /Compress:recovery But this command is working without any error. dism /Export-Image /SourceImageFile:c:\win81aio\temp\install.wim /SourceIndex:1 /DestinationImageFile:c:\win81aio\win81\sources\install.esd /Compress:maximum What will be the Problem...?
I wanted to use this to make a single disc but I couldn't execute the first command of the second set of commands. Someone mentioned changing from my C: drive to another partition or drive. Maybe I'll try that sometime. I DL'd Ambidav's ISO's from TPB so instead of one disc I have an x86 disc and an x64 disc.
Do you have latest adk from Update 1 installed and proceed the command in the adk CMD? If i get this right it fails to even mount the WIM?
I thought the ADK didn't change. So, I should delete or just install over with the ADK link from page one?
The latest one offered (even through OPs link) is adk for Win 8.1 Update, so might be a good idea to update and test again. Afair you can simply update the adk .
bro when Iam trying to convert the wim file into .esd my pc is hanging too much and the process stops at 5 % I have tried 3-4 times but it stucks at 5 or 6 % Is there any other alternative to convert .wim file into .esd
yes it requires too much system process. I have 3rd Gen core i5 processor and during the conversion process cpu consumption is always at 100% and it takes too much time. in my case process also stops sometimes. its normal. though you need better processor.
bro is there any other way to convert it into .esd or is there any other option to decrease the size of whole .iso whose size is 4.47 gb plz tell me is there any software which can do it
I do not know. I know only one method which is already mentioned. But AFAIK this is the only method we all know.
Afaik it only stops in case of errors in the process due to instabilities, this is actually a pretty good stability test. Converting a ProfessionalWMC lasts here [i5 3570K @ 4GHz] ~30 mins (Pro and Core as further indices need less time). So far it never stopped .
Using a old junk Dell 2305 AIO to convert wim to esd works perfect... 4GB - Pro, and Enterprise versions, plus WMC. No issues
Please help. I've been trying to create the 8.1 Pro WMC only without success. My source ISO is en_windows_8.1_with_update_x64_dvd_4065090.iso. The first dism command works and mounts the image. The get-targeteditions fails and creates the dism log file. The error seems to be with the provider store not being previously encountered. What am I missing.
I assumed that since get targeteditions failed there was no reason to set the edition as pro wmc. I think the relevant section of the log file is below. Edit: The command to set the edition as pro wmc also fails. 2014-05-15 12:18:16, Error DISM DismHostLib: Failed to create DismHostManager remote object. I think I found the problem. I'm running Windows 7 and using the wrong DISM even though I installed 8.1 ADK. Thanks to murphy78 who posted "Simply installing 8.1 adk will not suffice, you need to run dism from the full path or it will default to your system32 folder, which will contain an older version if you are not running 8.1" Now I must discover the path to the 8.1 DISM.
