that does not work because CMD does not have "TustedInstall" permissions.

 

It works just fine. I used it over, and over again. Why would you need TrustedInstaller permissions to run this as opposed to opening the registry, right-clicking, and selecting delete?

it does not works with "Administrator" rights, you need "TrustedInstaller" permissions, otherwise it says denied.

 

Help? I had previously installed WMC. Update killed i. Being a newb (This is my first encounter with DISM) so I uninstalled, reinstalled... Didn't work. So, I:
Ran through all these steps & Reboot
Uninstalled for good measure & Reboot
Reinstalled
Still Fails with same error
In all fairness, I don't know the correct command line for DISM so I didn't run. I figured uninstall and reinstall would fix.

Any kind-hearted souls want to help? Screen shot of regedit showing the offending keys gone.



Reran everything and confirmed 2 packages removed

 

It works just fine. Like I said previously. Did you follow MonarchX's instructions EXACTLY ?

Also, uploaded the DISM log to make it quicker (I hope) to spot trouble. Hopefully before my SO walks through muttering "should have bought a tivo"

 

Sorry guilty of thread jacking because I didn't realize I'd landed in a thread not part of WMC installation issues. My bad. Happy for help but probably not the right place.

 

Just found out you need to edit the script for the proper build. I made this for a previous build so you would need to replace build number with the build number you are using.

Probably just easier to manually delete the entries using regedit.

 

Could you explain that answer more explicitly - you know for us kids who don't know which script and which reg entries you mean exactly?

 

Just open the registry editor and go to HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\CatalogsToUninstall. Delete the two entries there, and restart. The names of the entries differ depending on the build of Windows so a command script for one build will not work with another. It is easy to just open the registry editor, and delete the entries manually. The registry editor now supports copy, and paste so you can just copy HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Component Based Servicing\CatalogsToUninstall into where it says computer at the top, hit enter, and you will be there. Delete the values in the right-hand panel and you will be good to go after restart.

 

I know his method works fine, but I'm asking for another method more simply to get trustedinstallers permissions more easily, for example like using RunAsTI.exe tool or something similar

 

His method takes less than 5 minutes including two reboots. I think you are making too much of it.

 

I was unable to download NSudo, so i download ExecTI & cbsenum-0.9, they work just fine together.

Uninstalled all the crap i wanted to, just fine.

 

Thank you! However, still no go. Uninstalled, ran regedit & removed keys listed above, rebooted. Confirmed via regedit keys indeed stayed removed. Reinstall. Same error.

FWIW. I switched to WMC-V8.8.1 package, worked for me.

 

for me and for you yes, it can take even less than 5 min, but that does not means for all, due not all the people have knowledge about this things.
