Hi Folks I recently installed windows 7 on my new NUC. When it came to activate windows i tried to the usual method by using the daz loader 2.2.2, i got an error saying 'unsupported partition table'. I have searched for this problem and i see the reason being because im using the new bios and the way that my ssd hard drive is formatted, its still ntsc though. Anything i read seems to recommend doing a new installation. Is that the only way to get round this problem apart from buying a license which i dont want to do.
Many thanks for your reply and the links. It seems to be answered in the common questions. Its because i have a GPT ssd drive and it just says i need to format it. Is there any other activation methods that dont require reformatting my hard drive?
I had not have any problem with NUC Intel Box computer, all I have to make sure UEFI is off. that it.. WORKS FOR me, I did 20 NUC box already works fine..
I tried changing the bios to legacy but it would not boot unless it was in UEFI mode. Were the hard drives GPT ? Mine is. Thanks for the info sir. Some of that is over my head with regards to changing the bios. I have the Intel visual bios, can that be modded. Is it just going to be a case of having to reinstall windows 7? I have 'Ultimate x 64, can it easily be changed to one of the other versions so it will work with the Daz loader? I have Ultimate and so the KMS activator wont work for me.
Either re-install to MBR partitioned hdd will allow to use DAZ Loader. Or try to use windslic. Or install pro or enterprise and use a KMS solution.
@mystic.bertie Yes, it can be pretty much easy to permanently add SLIC to your mobo's firmware - see here. @Enthousiast WindSLIC isn't recommend for novice users & newer platforms.
I really Suggest to use MBR (Basic Partition) not GPT because that will not work well DAZ Loader or KMS. What I would do is go to the NUC Bios, look for UEFI and DISABLE that UEFI and leave AHCI Enable, Now here small issues that may crash unless backup first then convert back to Basic Partitions table, then fix the MBR to allow fix bootable issues. Again, most new case I really don't like UEFI because it need use GPT.. it not good place. Best to turn off UEFI.. So, best of luck..
When i go to the WindSLIC post im totally stumped, for me i need some kind of detailed step by step guide. @Tito i followed your link to the SLIC post, again nothing is clear with what i need and what exactly i need to do. @atgpud2003 I already disabled UEFI and my pc wont boot. I found some instructions on how to edit a couple of registry files to downgrade to PRO edition, is this a good idea and then i can use the kms activator.
Umm that odd.. . Well, did you convert from GPT to Basic partition?? I belive converting back can loose data.. So, if you have 2nd hand to clone the hard drive just in case.
@mystic.bertie As I told before, don't opt for WindSLIC - it may not be compatible with newer mobos. If its possible, then allow me to remotely help you; PM me if you're interested.
Is this to add the SLIC to my mobo's firmware? It would be great if you could help me. Do i need to do anything in preperation for this to save time?
Hi, i dont see a PM button how do i start a message with you? How much time will i need do you think, i dont want my misses disturbing me he he.
