    hi all,
I am a total noob at this, compared to the geniuses in this forum. I will explain my situation (i dont know if this requirement has been presented already) :

I have 2 laptops - one is a dell and another is a hp, both running the same latest version of windows 10 v1909. I am on a bandwidth-limited-metered-internet and hence bandwidth is money to me (mobile broadband coz i am on the move), hence I don't want to download the same updates on both laptops. is there an up-to-date tool compatible with 1909 version of windows 10, that
    1. disables automatically updating windows,
    2. checks the Microsoft website on user-intervention only (similar to windows 7 update control panel applet),
    3. manually select those updates which I prefer, to be downloaded to a custom folder (so that I can copy those files to my other laptop too),
    4. install these downloaded update files in batch,
    5. check if the required updates are present in the copied custom folder in my second laptop, instead of downloading them for the second time and install them in batch in my second laptop.

    - basically I want more control over the windows updates. even if there is not any single tool to achieve all these, can you suggest the usage of multiple tools in succession in terms of steps. or is there any manual method to do these?
    - developers of existing applications for such purposes, please take these points into consideration as feature requests.
    - detailed documentation on how to use the tool(s) would be very much needed.

administrators and moderators of this forum, can you please make a collection of similar tools under separate headings, so that it would be easier for everyone to locate the tools.

sorry if I am asking too much. forgive my English, I am not a native speaker. thanks in advance :)

You could just use one of the scripts available on this forum like Sledgehammer to disable updates and check the UUP Dump website or the hotfix repository in this subforum for updated builds and download the SSU, CU and .NET and Flash update cab files or msu's and install them manually using a simple DISM command or batch script. Give me a minute, as I am currently enjoying a meatball parm sub and I will post relevant links to the things and places that I have mentioned.

thank you bfoos and kaljukass. for now i have setup my connection as metered in windows settings. i am not a geek as developers here are, but i would like to register the difficulties what total laymen like me face. the lack of proper documentation for the WUMT or WUMgr deters people like us. we cannot use the tools to the fullest extent of their intended design. as much as a developer spends his/her time on the application itself, he/she should concentrate more on making a readme or help documentation, for, no one can know about the features of the application more than the developer himself/herself. therefore my humble request is asking the developers of these tools for proper help tutorials/videos.

yes, i searched the internet for the same, but they just cover the basic aspects and hence are not comprehensive about each and every option present in these tools. may i request the developers in this great forum to help laymen like us to better understand your respective tools.

coming back to my topic, can someone point me how to use ALL the features of such a tool for my above needs.

    thanks in advance :)
