    The issue only ever happens on FIRST LAUNCH after coming out of hibernate or from a full restart.
    FIRST LAUNCH only. Every other launch is within seconds.

    (please, do not smack me in the face with any "switch to Firefox" replies!)

    I have this odd situation occuring on this computer:
    Computer #5 (desktop, Dell XPS 8700, currently running Win10 LTSC 21H2, approx 13 years old)
    CPU = i7 4770 @ 3.40 GHz
    RAM = 16 GB DDR3
    GPU = Nvidia GeForce GT 635

    This computer ran XP x64 from "day one" and only went to Win10 a mere two to two-and-a-half years ago.

    This issue has ocurred in every OS ever installed on this hardware.
    From XP x64, to LTSB 2016, to LTSC 2019, to LTSC 21H2. Have not tested LTSC 24H2 (yet). All x64.

    But that FIRST LAUNCH of Chrome (every Chrome version in the last two years) will take FOREVER.
    Same for very old Chrome versions going all the way back to v86 (ie, 2020).
    Even forks of Chrome do this. On this hardware.

    In LTSC 2016, I would literally launch Chrome, walk to the kitchen, grab something out of the fridge, walk back, and Chrome was STILL loading. Not an exaggeration to say that the FIRST LAUNCH of Chrome would take 2 to 3 *minutes*.

    LTSC 2019, same hardware, same Chrome versions, would get that FIRST LAUNCH completed in 1 to 1.5 minutes.

    LTSC 21H2, same hardware, same Chrome versions, is currently getting that FIRST LAUNCH in 22 to 25 seconds.

    These times are the same in a "normal as-is" Win10 as they are in a "debloated" Win10.

    And they are only in that FIRST LAUNCH coming out of hibernate or from a full restart.

    Any suggestions on what could be causing this?

    So I did (finally) upgrade my browser. (I hate "chasing" update after update after update, way too frequent!, so stick with a version until it stops working on web sites.)
    BUT... That still did not fix that first-launch lag.
    It has "something" to do with how .dll's are loaded into memory, that's my "best guess". But I don't know how to prove or disprove.

    For the record, this happens with Chrome, Ungoggled Chrome, Edge, and Firefox.
    It does not happen with don't-waste-your-time slow-as-sh#t single-process web browsers, only with modern multi-process (e10s) web browsers.

    My browser was indeed "slow" on Speedometer 2.1 scores.
    Mileage will vary based on your hardware, but "relative to each other" is usually the same.

    Code:
    Ungoogled Chromium v144  ==  512 / 534 / 536...  avg == 527.3
    Ungoogled Chromium v154  ==  626 / 664 / 658...  avg == 649.3     776 MB RAM for one browser tab
    Official Firefox v158    ==  603 / 619 / 625...  avg == 615.7     886 MB RAM for one browser tab

    Cross posting this here so we don't hijack the Slimdown10 thread:

    When did you last clean install Windows on this machine? Do you keep it's BIOS up to date? Do you see a lot of quiescent HDD or SSD activity?

    Last install on all four of my "major primaries" were all done within the past MONTH.
    Since nobody has stepped up as having already witnessed this, live and in person, on their hardware, I'm basically kind of considering the matter closed.
    Without another live and in person witness to this behavior, all we can do is guess and speculate.

    And I've been doing that on this Dell XPS 8700 computer for THIRTEEN YEARS.
    It's always done this, from day one.
    And I've brought it up on several forums and the response has always been identical - nobody else has the same hardware and nobody else has witnessed this, live and in person.

    If it were "only Chrome", I'd just run Firefox or fork thereof on this machine.
    But it really is EVERY browser I have ever ran on this machine - over the past THIRTEEN YEARS.

    Spanning multiple installs, multiple OS's, both "normal" and debloated.
    All exact same hardware over those entire thirteen years.

    "Rebasing" .dll's of those browsers never changed anything either. No real clue.
    Been down this road on several forums and the result has always been the same - nobody else has the same hardware so we just keep running in place on a treadmill, staring at a brick wall.

    I've ran several versions of Linux, BSD, Haiku, and ReactOS.
    Not to be too blunt, but they sucked a-s-s in my opinion.

    Have not tried GNU OS. Is it behind the same makers of GNU IceCat?
    If so, that may be worth a shot! IceCat is still to this day the best 'fox fork I've ever run across.
    But it's also essentially abandonware.

    Never heard of 9Front.

    What's with that tone? I feel like I should report it to the mods as "name calling" and "disrespectful" of fellow members.
    We all have different strengths and weaknesses. Different skill levels. I don't see the need for whatever you call that, to me it's "name calling", but anywhooo...

    There is no 'tone' in anything I've said -- just a statement of fact; your posts are in fact often obtuse, inconsistent, contradictory -- as well as posted to the wrong forum or sub-forum, off topic, frequently are done as completely unnecessary multiple post bump spam, and are even rude.

    Your 'feelings' have nothing to do with the facts, I haven't called you any 'names' in fact there are no nouns or pronouns in anything I've written here or anything that refers to you in any derogatory or disrespectful way --on any occasion ever. The same cannot be said of your posts however, which actually have been derogatory and do name call and are quite rude and even provocative.

    It appears no effort at doing a deed in trying to help you will go unpunished, so I'll definitely back-off from making that effort. If you want to whine to the mods, be my guest -- one look at your posts and the sheer volume of forum rule abrogation and you might not like what you get...

    Ah, I get it now. It's because I don't like the word poop?

    Okay, TRUCE. Live and learn. ie, I can concede to some valid points.

    But, I will still defend myself if "attacked" and/or "trolled". As will you, of course. :cool:
