Hi, as you know I'm testing Windows XP MCE. I would like to open the protected content in this application (Media Center). Certainly, the required license can't be bought since years. Is there any way to decrypt the videos and music?

Which protected content? Do you mean the media on the Media Center Edition OEM Preinstallation Kit DVD? If so, there should be a programme on there that enables the system to decrypt said media.

No, the content that you can open directly in Media Center application (ehshell.exe).

I would appreciate a screenshot and the file path of the file you are trying to open. (edit: or what is displayed verbatim)

Update: I have installed Media Center with and made following observations about the OEM supplied sample media:
Apparently the sample TV recordings (from Babe (1995) Back to the Future, E.T. and Fast and Furious) are unencrypted and can be opened just fine in Media Player after installing a codec pack like K-Lite, but I have not been able to open them in Media Center.
The sample music videos and songs have DRM encryption on them, so you have to source them DRM free from elsewhere.
I am not sure whether lgstub.exe and licgen.exe which I talked about in the previous post do much of anything.

BTW, I can't play even the test videos in the WMC setup (still in VMWARE). The error reads that "files needed to display video are not installed". Obviously, I have got some codecs (K-Lite or from PowerDVD).
