windows defender antivirus is not used on win7 as it's not the same as the one found in win10. win7 just has plain defender. for Win7, the updates listed in the catalog are named "Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Security Essentials" I don't bother manually downloading all those downloads from there; just let Microsoft Update handle the security intelligence updates for MSE on Win7.
Just the renamed MSE definitions. Renamed, because it's much more than just the plain ol' defs. Defender on Win10 is now a monster.
That is what I wanted to know... On the other hand.... Win 10 users have only MS spying on them, others have their OS and an AV software, both collecting everything....
Even the old Defender updates in Windows 7 have that name, now (the KB number is unchanged). I have cared for both the OS and the AV software. It is possible but not for the average guy.
