Most of the times , it results in a soft brick/bootloop. Which can be fixed by flashing stock rom through fastboot. And if at all you are going to degoogle an android phone , you must be familiar with these things and tools. So...yes.

You can try searching used market. Much better Value for Money , I am not from States so have no exact idea. You have much better options though in USED scene.
