My friend has a Dell Inspiron laptop which is only about 3 years old. He has a legal copy of 7, and tried to update online. Windows Update says this model cannot be updated - something about incompatible BIOS. We updated BIOS and still same message. Looking on the web it seems that other Dell Laptop users have have similar problems. One solution seemed to be an install from DVD whilst running 7 and being online. I would be very grateful if some kind user could say whether this makes sense, and also what version ISO to download. His DELL is running Widows 7 Home Premium 64 BIT. A link would be very much appreciated. I can use Baidu if needed, as I have an account. Please send private message if needed. His desktop is an older HP which updated perfectly online, without a single problem. Well done HP and Microsoft. I do not have any Dell computers, but I would be very cross to see this message.
