maybe ive just been so lost about reading all this i figured u just needed to upgrade to slic 2.1 and everything was done.

So after the bios is updated and im in windows just goto the command prompt and enter that? is the *.xrm-ms file already a windows file or is that another file i need to download? and is the "certificate" a file that ever needs to be changed or replaced or just the key?

I can confirm the BBSC M1530 bios are working. Used the dos install method.

Don't worry Hewligun, you can rearm three times - and then you will know.

Some say M1530 will come with W7, some say no.

I installed the modified bios for my M1530 and it worked perfectly!
I created a USB bootdisc and flashed with the DOS version!
I was also able to activate Win7 using the SLIC 2.1 method without any problems!
Thanks everyone for all your hard work!

Just so everyone knows, DELL is discontinuing the XPS13 & XPS15! They will only support it up to VISTA... NOT WIN7! They have moved on to the XPS Studio line.
Don't expect any new drivers or updates.

where did you read they were getting rid of the xps line? the xps studio looks like it replaced the older inspiron line. the xps studio line is not as powerful as the normal xps line... atleast not yet.

@hewligun if your that worried about flash your Dell don't do it.
As many here have done they work and if you took time to read the post you would of known there is a windows based flash tested working for your Dell.
I did not understand @ 1st what needed to be done but after reading threads, post here I went ahead but I followed all steps laid out but it just would not work for me. I went over it 10 times but it would not change the slic but it would flash. Long story cut down the kind Mod Dr's here did me a windows based flash and all ok now even that the dos based worked for everyone else but I. Dell M1330 XPS.
If bricking your Dell is in your mind stay away from this mod.

Thanks to all the members here.
A home away from home :)
As for Dell ending the line of the XPS M1330 AND M1530 its all on the net and on dell homepage.

i am interested to know about this service tag issue as well. And since everyone keeps saying dell is discounting the m1530 i might just do the bios deal afterall.

also is it possible to reflash with the default bios of a12 and it will put the slic back? i ask this only if a problem happens and i need dell to come out and fix anything, i dont want to lose the warrenty:)

    heligun, same deal with me.

i have just over 1 more year to go on my warranty... All of my laptops been from dell, and my first laptop had some problems, in which that warranty came in real handy :p

There is a windows based version tested and working here, I'm not to sure why service tags are being removed but try the windows based file.
If you need to change or add a service tag it very easy to with service tag tool, so no worries there ;)
Just a heads up someone I know had their M1530 exchanged (mobo) due to video card problem just this week and had their unit flashed with a mod bios. The tec booted up the laptop powered now the set out to replace her mobo with now problems. The ran dia test anything OK.

just remember, if you are m1530 has a fingerprint scanner, the program might not work on windows 7... (havent flashed mines yet, still contemplating if i should flash my laptop or not)

i checked out their site, and they have a limited beta version of their program for windows 7....
