thats what this command does..<slmgr.vbs -ilc C:\DELL.XRM-MS> your telling slmgr.vbs that the certificate named <DELL.XRM-MS> is on "c:\" drive , you said it successfully installed ,but slictoolkit says otherwise

correct..copy it to c:\ then run the command from elevated command prompt

did you reboot this server yet?

I remember there were 2 different Asset programs, one was an EXE and an older .COM. I used the .COM from memory. You should get the no drives issue.

Also make sure you do use Standard and not DC / Essentials.

at this time it appears that the BIOS is all correct. The problem is with the CERT not picking up in the correct place. TITO remoted in and spent a hour or so and when he left to go to bed he said it was a token problem that my tokens were corrupt and I should re-install the OS. I have since done this and still get the same results. SO I am now downloading the eval version from MS in hopes I just got a bad download from the forum on the 2012 r2 std iso.

EDIT: Thanks to Redroad suggesting I use DELL-DD981F15.XRM-MS for the Cert I'm delighted to say I now have a PE2950 Type III running Windows Server 2012 R2 fully activated. Thanks all of you who helped me reach this point. If I can be of service to anyone just ask.

I seem to be having a similar problem.

    Dell PE 2950, running Server 2012 R2.

I have installed thanh2h's SLIC 2.3 modified BIOS which is supposed to be good. I have re-run the BIOS install several times.

I have tried to install a number of DELL SLICs and CERTs that I acquired in various threads here on MDL, including the "DELL.XRM-MS" CERT that is included with thanh2h's BIOS mod, along with the DELL[PE_SC3]2.3.BIN" - as well as also trying the "DELL-DD981F15.XRM-MS" CERT and the "DELL[PE_SC3]V2.3.BIN" and "DELL[PE_SC3]2.3-8ECDF13C.BIN" - and all sorts of combinations thereof.

No matter what I try, Server R2 won't activate and SLIC Toolkit tells me that the "Dump OK! (But SLIC OEM ID or Digital Signature Error! ). The Advanced tab of SLIC toolkit shows the PubKey Marker as a red !== exclamation point.

In SLIC Toolkit, I can open an External SLIC file and External Cert (any of the ones mentioned above) in the Advanced Tab and it will then show me the Dump Status as: "Dump OK! (DELLPE_SC3_v2.3) - but if I refresh, it reverts to "Dump OK! (But SLIC OEM ID or Digital Signature Error! ) and telling me again that neither my SLIC or CERT are correct.

    Could the BIOS be incorrect?

I have not yet tried to go into "Maintenance Mode" using the Dell Asset utility (although I have DL-ed the utility). Do you think that is the problem? Even with the modded BIOS, the Dell PE 2950 still hides the SLIC table from the OS?

Thanks in advance to all in this forum.

Should I start a new thread for my specific problem?

    Anybody?

    @Knife

You should turn on the hidden SLIC first by Dell Asset tool, then flash the modded bios which simply replaces the default SLIC 2.1 with SLIC 2.3.

Wow, what a PITA to run that Utility. It only runs by extracting to a floppy?

Anyway, I got it running off of a CD-R and ran the "asset PASS:12/31" command. While it did prompt me with a message asking me to confirm that I wanted to re-set my Asset Tag (to the same one originally attached to the machine), it did not lose the disk drives PERC5 RAID controller or anything on the re-boot.

After re-boot - and WITHOUT me having to re-flash the modded BIOS - Windows Server 2012 R2 now says it's activated in the system properties, and running cmd: "slmgr.vbs /dlv" now shows windows as "Activated."

Thanks so much Tito and everyone else in this forum.

    Interesting Post-Install Message

So, as I said, I got Server 2012 R2 up and running, when I call up the server's Properties, it tells me it's licensed. When I check activation status by typing: "slmgr.vbs -dli" I get a window telling me it's licensed.

    Thanks!!

But I have noticed that Server 2012 R2 itself is throwing an error, saying: "Installation of the Proof of Purchase from the ACPI table failed. Error code:
    0xC004F057"

Also, if I open SLIC Toolkit, even though it shows everything as OK in the "Status" bar, in the Advanced tab, under PKey&Cert Validation, it indicates that "No OEM Certificate found !(Run as Adminstrator)"

Any ideas? Do I need to put the PoP in the ACPI table? If so, is there an easy way to do it?

Again, thanks in advance, to everyone in this forum!

    Hello folks!
Same boat here, and have been dutifully reading and trying all of the above, for hours... still stuck as "not activated".
have installed asset 12/31 and 12/34 reset. have installed 270b23 bios, even though my winloader was already reporting 2.3 was present.. (maybe unrelated)
have installed the certificate that came with the bios, and the one additionally suggested above... DD981F15.XRM-MS

still no luck. slic saying no oem cert...
hoping we can together see what I have missed, and I can join the ranks of successful 2950 using 2012r2!

    thanks in advance!

    @Andrew Bienhaus

How did you install the certificate? Can you please post the screenshot of the following as well as a licensingdiag report?
    Code:
    slmgr.vbs /dlv

I used the elevated command prompt, and vbs script as instructed.

But, awoke very tired this morning, with an idea.. and have now got Winloader to say "Licensed", for the first time.
    Rebooted, and now "Activated" too...

ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS.... run Winloader as an Administrator.
    <sigh>
I may have needed the other steps too, as this is a Dell PE2950, and everyone else had to do those steps too... but all I did just now was RAA Winloader, Uninstall. Reboot. RAA Winloader, got a DIFFERENT message, and the word Licensed popped up in green.

Thanks for all the details guys, hope this helps someone else... try not to laugh too hard as you say "Well Duuhhhhhhhh of course." ;-)

Ok, so for posterity and recorded information sake, here's a better summary.
As I have two nearly identical PE2950's for this project, and need to have both running 2012R2 (6 month test, PoC, no budget for real license!)... I stepped more methodically through the steps just now on the second one, to see what makes it actually work.

    Here we go...

PowerEdge 2950, v2.7.0 dell bios to start
Dell setup disc, just in case I want the partition later.
It configured raid 5 (or I did), and then installed 2012R2 media.
    System booted, "not activated".
RaA (run as Administrator!!) Winloader, reports bad slic size or something.
Install, doesn't change anything. Reboot, fixes nothing.
    RaA, uninstall.

plug in the ol' USB floppy drive, and run the asset name tool, use PASS:12/31 and watch the reboot declare maintenance mode.
Killed the Raid config, by the way, even on reboot, had to tell it to "import foreigh config from HDs"... but it was fine.

now, back in windows... booted up... RaA Winloader, reports v2.1 slic, instead of error.. Ah ha!

install the modified 2.7.0 bios from above, reboot, still says 270, but now RaA Winloader, and it reports a clean v2.3 slic...

...hit install, and now no reboot request, simply a success message, and the green word "Licensed", where it kept saying a red "Notification" before.

So, good to go... and thanks folks!
Hope my steps here help someone else.
    (didn't need the vbs scripts)

PS: is it safe to delete those two certificate files from the C:\ root? or will it still be looking for them, because we added them using that VBS script...

    You can safely delete them.

    :)
