I can't volunteer for this as it isn't my laptop but would love to see if this can be done for the Inspiron 6000.
I'm in the same boat, I know 2 people with Inspiron 6000's (I work for them from time to time), so I can't really brick theirs either. I got a mod prepared though, and may just have to wait a bit. There will be some people out there with old boards that either aren't concerned or perhaps have an old board with broken ports.... If it worked for wolf69 and his Dell (the SLIC Entry), hopefully it will work with more, and if we can edit the RSDT table on newer Dells then we should hopefully be able to edit them on XP era Dells... I really believe there is hope, but we must wait for some testers...
Thanks for the modded bios shakeyplace, I would try it on my laptop but it sounds like the laptop mobo might go poop and I can't take the risk on my friend's laptop. I have an eeprom programmer but not for this types of chips, the eeprom flasher has saved me from my desktop mobos flashing habits plenty of times. These dell laptop bios chips need de/soldering and I would need to take the whole thing apart...I would definitely flash it on my own lappy and have my eeprom flasher on standby in case it didn't work. Again thanks for the modded bios but I'll wait out and see if testers see if it successful or not.
Yes, I wanted to make that clear for that reason, no worries I am sure we will get some brave testers soon...
