flashrom 0.9.1 (or later) should tell you automatically if your flash chip has been tested to work fine. Just run flashrom and it will tell you about your chip (default action is to run detection only).

    Actually...I retract my original statement.

The 755 is NOT SLIC 2.1 compliant directly from Dell.

In general, if Dell doesn't offer Windows 7 x86 or x64 drivers for a particular model, then it is NOT SLIC 2.1 out of the box.

Same with Vista drivers in relation to SLIC 2.0 (like the Optiplex 170L that I requested earlier).

    Guys… I mean Busykid508 mostly,
I was wondering is it possible to update this thread very first message with really brief instructions on:
Dell Phoenix BIOS – try to use this method (link)
AMI BIOS – try to use this method (link)

    Dell Phoenix BIOS models:
    No SLIC:
    Desktops:
    Dimension 5100, 9100, etc
    Inspiron …

    Notebooks:
    Latitude 400, 410, 610, 810, etc.

    SLIC 2.0:
    Desktops:

    Notebooks:

    AMI BIOS models:

If you like the idea – we can insert second post with links to modded BIOSes (and confirmation statues)
Two posts is easier to edit (IMO)…

I guess, everybody will benefit from it. :)

@ Apokrif, just a side note there are also dell models with award bioses such as dell Inspiron 530 desktop these come with SLIC 2.0 but can be easily modded with awardtool.

@ Apokrif, Sorry I could but, That would need to be decided by admin either Ancestor (v) or Yen and be discussed by Moderators talk it over with Busykid508 and then ask Ancestor (v) or Yen.

Moe, I had the same problem with win7 ult 64. I loaded the OS with orginal bios, then I changed to the modded bios, rebooted everything works fine, here's the catch, when trying to reload os (format) it hangs and cannot complete installation. I just about ripped out my computer trying to figure the h_ll went wrong, luckily I made an image of the OS with modded bios, I was able to boot up. I have not put the origal bios back and reload the OS, Iam sure it will work. So I say something is wrong with this bios, thanks for the bios, please rework.
