Hi all, I'm sure this has been done but I'm struggling to locate it amongst this wealth of information. I have a Dell Inspiron 1501 with 2.6.3 BIOS and just bought a new battery. I'm getting the "Unrecognised Battery" bug. Can anyone point me to a modded BIOS to get around it. Laptop works fine but won't charge battery. Cheers
check the pin in the charger or dc jack is partially loose or inside of power cord from brick to laptop. dont wrap cord on charger as it stretches it and breaks the thinest white cable inside!. instead loop to loop like shoelaces. if it breaks it gives "unecognized adapter" YET IT POWER ON! as its 2 sides to power adapter tip .. outside exposed wire is ground - and inside THICK white is + and the white THIN cable inside is the pin for serial / model and battery charge. but if its unrecognized batt. u have mainboard issues . likely in the charging circuit
Thanks for reply. The old battery doesn't give this error on boot, although old battery is only holding 5% charge hence buying new one. This was a known bug in Dell BIOS which was supposed to have been fixed in 2.6.3
Thank You. I have a phoenix bios mod tool but bios file is exe file so I don't know how to mod it. If you don't mind, please let me know how to mod exe bios file or please let me know the tip. Thank you so much.
