You can reset the service tag with srvctag.exe included with DSTCD, by changing the tag to blank and then re-entering your tag. When you do this it resets the bios and returns it to defaults. It also disables lowjack for laptops too. It wont work if you have a system bios password, but if you have a bios password it does. There is 2 different passwords in the bios.
the SLP key works with windows ultimate x86 and x64 you need the certificat that works with the vista activation, the old cert is able to activate windows 7, must be called dell.xrm-ms
You need to run a piece of software to "see" the SLIC.. either Everest or Read Write Everything (you can google or search this site for links). Or you can just try to load SLP key and certificate and if Windows activates then you know SLIC is there.
you are joking here 130 posts and you still don't know how to check if you have slic in your bios. Start reading and searching i aint gonna point you to links with 130 posts i hope you can find the answeres
I flashed using the Windows Flasher as well and all is fine shakeyplace, Inspiron 9400 should be marked as tested by ryan437 and myself, worked for both of us and probably others as well
Anyone else having issues with their XPS 420 not activating after flashing the bios in this thread and installing the Dell cert? I can't get it to work over here at all. Shows an OEM key entered, but still shows unactivated.
