Wolf, I could tell you how to install bios from 410 on the 400, but do you really think it will work? Is it the same chipset, it does look like the same size bios...
Yes everything from the board was the same the only thing different was that it came with the slic 2.0 for windows vista.i just havent been able to get it to go
Sounds promising to me, I'll put you together a package to flash it to the 410/9200 version and a folder in the package to flash back to the 400/9150 bios. I'll post instructions as soon as I have it together... You will have to do it in dos so prepare a dos boot disk...
I've tried those. As I understand this just sets special asset that BIOS should react on and get into some "BIOS reset mode" after reset. Unfortunately it doesn't work on 1537. In the same way when we change service tag, it also resets itself to some default state and SLIC table becomes unshaded. Unfortunately SVCTAG just hangs on 1537 and does nothing. So currently I just hope that someone with better Dell BIOS internals understanding will get his hands on N-series Dell and will have some solution for such machines. Or it may happen that newer SVCTAG appears, that will work with 1537 (the latest I've found was version 3.4).
ok thank you turns out the chipset was different the 400 has the intel 945 and the 410 has the 965 dont know if that would make a difference
Yeah i dont know if his computer is still under warrenty or not i heard that there is a phoenix bios tool being made so we can finally do the mods for phoenix bioses
They are testing Phoenix Mod tool v0.013. Just for internal only wofl69 : where is the bios download link for xps 400. If it has slic 2.0, i try, otherwise you wait the phoenix tool.
DELL Optiplex 755 This is to confirm the new flasher for Optiplex 755 works fine. It restored the Dell Logo & Dell 2.1 slic remains. Thank you all.
