DELL INSPIRON MINI 9 Bios : QHA05 Slic : DELL Change bios name to BIOS.ROM This bios does not have slic. So i added slic 2.1 BUT i don't know it works or not (brick Dell Mini 9 ) TAKE YOUR OWN RISK Prepare bios recovery disk if you want take a risk. link : deleted
Dell Latitude E6400 Bios version : A06 You might get Error checksum while flashing bios ( worst case brick your bios ) ( checksum of whole file does not match with FFFFFFFF. This .HDR is not the same with other .HDR bios files ). So Master(s) will correct the whole file checksum Only .HDR bios file link : deleted
I am confused now, why should we have 2 SLIC table (2.0 and 2.1) to have vista and win 7 activated? So far as I know, the SLIC 2.1 table is SLIC 2.0 compliant...
If you wil check the message from proinr then 1) Bios correctly flashed 2) and has two slics 2.0 and 2.1. You can see they in the message attachement. Why? If you try to change slic 2.0 to slic 2.1 in the hole9.rom then it will be not overwritten (???). Do not ask me why. It stays unchanged. Additionaly I can propose that dell has special mechanism for slic extraction and merging from two bios parts hole9 and second with RSA . Second slic 2.1 comes from ACPI05.rom and will extracted with default phonix mechanism. At least you have both slics. I hope W7 will check each of them and gets right 2.1. Same logic with Vista. We need only confimation.
Sorry, not possible as there's no slic marker in this bios at all. Cannot insert a new one "from scratch".
Thanks for the effort ... are you seeing that from my BIOS dump (is there a chance that I could have messed something up, I've never done one)?
sonificator, no, I see it from content of the original DELL bios upgrade tool D8400A09.EXE. I'm not very sure about your dump (probably done with winplash).
D520 Bricked. Can it be revived? Flash the BIOS with modded one. System shuts down and tried to start up, but I get no Dell logo, no diag beeps, and shuts down after about 3 seconds. whenever I tried to turn it on, it keeps shut down in 3 seconds. Bad flash?? I saw the a dell recovery method from here, it didn't look it was for laptops but tried anyway with media bay floppy drive. Same result, turns on for 3 sec, and shuts down. Anyone can help? or I should wait 'til Mon, and call dell for M/B replacment? Thanks for you hard work though... good reading too..
