I have a 380 and it does not use slic in its bios. I bought a 390 motherboard, case fan and I/O front panel for less than $120 (all new parts) and it fits right in the case. You need the fan because the 390 motherboard uses a 5 pin fan connector vs 3 pin for the 380 and the I/O panel because 390 motherboard uses a ambient temperature sensor that the 380 does not use. I now have a Dell Precision 390 and it does have Slic and have used Shakeyplace's modded bios for it and I now have Slic 2.1. Just a suggestion for your 380 and you can use a quad core processor with the 390 motherboard!
Hello, I have tried the BIOS mod for the Dell XPS 430, with Windows 7. But I just got a restart and an error code like this: BCCode:9f BCP1:0000000000000003 BCP2:FFFFFA8004607060 BCP3:FFFFF80000BA2748 BCP4:FFFFFA80041B6D30 I also got a dump file, which I viewed. In that file I saw a piece of text belonging to the modded BIOS: "DELL M09". My system also occasionaly freezes when I try to shutdown. Do you think this is caused by the modded BIOS then? Because it sure looks like it! If so, when I flash it back to the original BIOS, will the error go away?
Oh, I later on also got an event-id 12: "The platform firmware has corrupted memory across the previous system power transition. Please check for updated firmware for your system." (it's in the system-log)
Well, if it is the bios mod causing the trouble, then yes, if you flash back to the stock bios then the error would go away... Try flashing back to stock bios, I will also have a look at the mod today or tomorrow. Give it several days to see for sure. I wonder. It seems like it is the change in slic that it is not liking.. Maybe not necessarily the slic but the change. Is it Win7 that we are dealing with? Did you have it previously activated with another method such as a loader? I have used identical methods in 90% of the mods and that is why I am asking. I suspected some time ago that Win7 did not like changes in it's activation method (back to the beta) but have not heard any reports before this. another thing you could try if you have a spare drive is a fresh install to see if it is in fact either the SLIC or the change in activation it doesn't like. If it is the change, the perhaps try changing the serial, then change back again, perhaps rebooting between changes?
Yes, Windows 7. I've flashed it back, but I've still got shutdown problems. I think it's namely when I login with multiple accounts and do some stuff (start Firefox, play game, shut it down, play a video, pause it) that it hangs on shutdown (with the monitor having no signal).
Yes,it is an award flash.Run awdflash in DOS,and it is very easy. There are 2 bins in o740-222.exe,one is 222_4m.bin,and it has SLIC 2.0,the other is 222_8m.bin,and it has SLIC 2.1,so it is the point to modify 222_4m.bin. Good Luck!
Dell Inspiron B130 laptop How would I do the slic for the inspiron B130 Laptop? I have tried to do slic on a dell gx240 way back, and had no luck extracting bios. Can this laptop be done? any info would be great
