Do you have a BIOS password set? Seems that's where the flasher is getting stuck. Please go into your BIOS setup and remove password, revert to defaults and then try to run windows flasher again.
Lol, that did the trick, now I got this: Code: - <command name="flash_write"> <property name="BIOS" value="A09" errorcode="0x0" /> </command> - <command name="biosupdate"> <property name="task" value="Succeeded." errorcode="0x0" /> </command> Now it should be SLIC 2.1
Yeah I realize that is confusing. Phoenix makes both Phoenix and Award BIOSes. In your case it is an Award BIOS, even though it says Phoenix
Dimension E520 works for me also. RW Everything still reads SLIC 2.0 version however, the bits are right for 2.1 and Windows 7 activates.
Flashing in windows pointers Just to help people and this could be used as a guide also. If you run a windows flasher bios upgrade you first should create a temp directory in the root of your main drive, C:\dell1525 for example, and run the program from here! Reason being,if you run from the desktop the files are created in a user account area of your hard drive. If you try to access those files from dos or another computer they are protected from access. For the same reason people should never store any important information in the MyDocuments folder, because that is a protected user folder too. If you ever try to recover information from a corrupted hard drive in another computer the users dont match and prevents access. Make sure to run as administrator also Keep your power cord plugged in to prevent a dead battery during flashing And dont forget to bite a stick while its rebooting
I ran it from my desktop and it updated fine, no problems once I turned off my Bios password Otherwise, good info
Glad to know desktop worked for you. For the majority its good practice to avoid the desktop and MyDocuments all together. I wouldnt know cause I avoid them like the plague.
works perfect on dimension e520. quick question.. what happens when a new key gets released. do you have to flash the bios again? or just reinstall the winloaders with the new key?
