@ shakeyplace only one problem when trying to flash from within windows if you already have updated the inspiron 530 bios to version 1018 window flasher wont allow it because it is same version infact you cant even downgarade to older version i found that out a while back that's why you need to flash from dos:)

yes, but in that case... Winflash is supposed to accept command-line arguments, you would have to run command with elevated priveledges

    winflash -h

-fa Force flashing bypassing already-programmed check.
-fm Force flashing bypassing BIOS memory config check.
-fs Force flashing bypassing BIOS SSID check.
-fp Force flashing bypassing BIOS P/N check.
-pa Write BIOS image to all appropriate adapters.
-padevid= Use with -pa command to update adapters of specific device ID.
-passid= Use with -pa command to update adapters of specific SSID.
-pasvid= Use with -pa command to update adapters of specific SVID.

perhaps it may also accept the /py/sn/cc commands or perhaps if it opens a dialogue window you can choose to clear cmos as well, or just enter bios afterwards and reset to default? I think running "winflash 713D1P53.bin -fa" in an elevated environment should do the trick but don't have a 530...

I used the one extracted from the Dell file.. run 530_1018.exe and find the files in your temp folder (I imagine you already are aware of this LOL). It is the one provided by dell and must be compatable
ps, I did add yours to the second post (finally, sorry), I would like to figure this out, for some folks that aren't used to dos disks, etc.
everytime I try playing with this version I don't get by a ich9 chipset check

    Dell Mini 10 A10 Bios Has slic 2.1 :)

Just a heads up, the Dell mini 10 A10 bios has slic 2.1 and can run windows 7 quite well (without aero, which is choppy). All that is needed is the utility which adds the key, etc...
