Battery doesn't charge because of the screwed up bios from dell Now, i have a solution for you that actually worked for me. Dell's flashers do run under dos... If you boot from flashdrive and run the same flasher under dos, it flashes without problems. And to avoid any warning such as in my case non charged battery you just run it with the /forceit Thanks a lot.
Hi guys just out of interest did anyone check to see if slp1.0 was already in this bios before you added it i know i have older inspiron 530 and slp1.0 and slic 2.0 was there by default so didn't add slp1.0. i know going by dell downloads the 435MT say's supported OS systems are windows 7 and vista.
Studio XPS 435MT: I know that my 435MT did not activate before nTT fixed it. It certainly had slic2.0 present for Vista. Their new version 1.1.3 may have slic2.1 but I have not checked it. The upgrade is not necessary for me otherwise. Personally I doubt Dell will add slic2.1 until their Dell OEM disks ship at which point they have to add slic2.1.
I didn't add it, I didn't even look for it to be honest. I was going by nTT's instructions when compiling mine for the 435. But I won't upload it anyways if there is a working version already available... pointless I only updated slic 2.0 marker to slic 2.1, nothing else since the marker version (FX09) I think it was, has already had the update on other models I seen no reason to change it elsewhere and never looked for slp 1.0 and version 1.1.3 bios definitely has not been updated to slic 2.1...at least from Dell
ok thanks, so i add the DOS version of the M1530 A09 bios slic 2.1 on my xps page. when i flashed in dos mode i didnt rename the file bios.gz, i just typed : M1330A15.EXE -readgzfile for people that wants to flash in dos mode, u have the HP tool on my page to create USB bootable key, download the Win98SE_bootdisk.iso and extract it to some folder then create the bootable usb KEY with the folder where u extracted the iso. put the original dell bios on the usb key + the modified file bios.gz then boot on the usb key and type at command prompt for exemple with the xps M1330 : M1330A15.EXE -readgzfile it will launch the flashing tool and check the crc of the bios.gz file, if the crc is ok, you can continue flashing the bios, when u reboot the system, it takes a little time to boot, the bios is checking if all is fine, then it will continue boot on the OS. if you want to flash from the dell exe bios in dos mode, just type the name of the modified exe at command prompt. rename it like the original bios before flashing, or just launch the dell exe bios with slic 2.1 from the OS. report feedback in any case so modders can check the bios if there's some problem and delete the bios that doesnt work, and if the modded bios is working fine, it will help others people that want to flash their machine.
right, keep the name for the gz file, I meant that you can use the modified dell file 1530_A09_SLIC.EXE to flash from Dos, but I recommend renaming it to remove the long name, ie 1530_A09.EXE before using it because some folks have trouble with the long file name. If you do this you no longer need to use the bios.gz file or the /readgzfile command in Dos..
No it's an Ubuntu model and did not have any SLIC in the BIOS! Does it make any difference for the mod?
