d820 tested, bios updated to slic 2.1 success :). Haven't had time to install windows again to check activation. Just used Read and write utility to check slic 2.1 which was present.

Try and put the file at the root of your C drive or put it on a usb flash drive or something, then run it.

Yes, I wish you can make a dos package for the owners of O755_A14. :D
We will wait for a good news from you.

    TIA

Is there a specific reason why the vostro1000 phoenix bios can't be modded for SLIC 2.1?

    Pre-SLIC or something?

I've seen it mentioned on both this and the vista forums and I haven't seen a definitive answer.

If it's packaging, I have the 2.6.3 and wouldn't mind trying to dig the ROM out of it.

LOL, one time I ran a dell flash utility from a network drive. It dutifully extracted all its files there, and of course could find nothing after the reboot. :)

Hey shakey, any way you could build a new windows flasher of inspirion 1525.
Most have said the current one aint working, but report success with dos version.

Is there any difference between the older and new method for building a windows-flash pack.

we could use one with the new method you described, dos/win compatible version.

Thanks shakey aka "da dell terror-ist", you da man

Already posted on front page, the new way to build flasher, simply delete bios.gz from Dell's original flasher and replace with new one...
Credit for that goes to a chinese bios mod site, Thanks

Hey, man, having a hint which way to go is better than any of the other answers given so far.

    Thanks for the reply.
