are you usunf afudos or afuwin? try typing afuxxx /h to show appropriate switch, I believe afuwin uses /force (replace xxx with proper name, either win or dos)
I have tried adding the certificate and reactivating with no luck.. Is it possible that SLIC isn't included in this bios at all? Not even 2.0? Everest Ultimate and a few others don't even detect a SLIC table.. It just seems hard to believe that it isn't in there at all.
I just checked....shakeyplace is correct...slic 2.1 is there in the bios of the download link that you gave
There is one possibility, if it were originally sold without windows, either a freedos or ubuntu version. If that is the case you may have to ut it in manufacturing mode..
XPS430 ver. X01 SLIC 2.0 Upgrade - Need Help I have a Dell XPS 430 desktop, with X01 version of BIOS, SLIC 2.0... seems this is an engineering version and it could not be upgraded to A00 or A01 I tried the modified A01 BIOS downloaded from here, but it told me that the product ID not matched...both failed in Windows and DOS And I tried to modify the HDR file by myself, by I could not find an original X01 version. I am wondering, whether I can modify the A01 version to match the X01 product, but I don't really know which part I need to modify. e.g., modify the A01 in the HDR file to X01? Please please help.... thanks a lot
Are the system specs the same? we could force a bios upgrade assuming the bios chip is the same size and type by using the command line /forceit or else /forcetype the danger being if it has a different kind of bios chip. Some of the Dell executables do read the current bios to file in Dos using the /readromfile command, I suppose it would be safer. We could read the current bios using that command and mod that file perhaps? We could flash it back in Dos by gzipping it and using the /readgzfile command. If you can get it read and uploaded I will be happy to have a look at it...
