There is no need for modded bios with the 1545, if slic 2.1 doesn't show )slic 2.0 isn't either), it is because you have a laptop originally bought without windows, the Dellbiodreset.iso has been reported as working with that model, ust reset the service tag number when you boot from the disk, it has been reported as working even if you use the original service tag when resetting it!
Hello, I would like to update to SLIC 2.1 and i have downloaded this BIOS file XPS210SLIC.exe for DELL XPS 210. This file is modded by Shakeyplace and tested by Jandevries. My computer is Dell XPS 210 and currently with BIOS Version 2.1.0 with SLIC 2.0. Now the file was downloaded (XPS210SLIC.exe) of Shakeyplace, unfortunately I do not know how I perform the BIOS update. I would be very happy Shakeyplace or jandevries or someone could help me. Thank you very much!
Hi, I have made up my mind to update my Vostro 1700 BIOS to support Windows 7 automatic activation. I've seen that other DELL computers (originally sold with Windows Vista 1 or 2 years ago, like Latitude E4200 and Precision T3400) are now being officially updated to support SLIC 2.1 and Windows 7. It can be considered as a gift because you can install Windows 7 on that computers without paying a buck. However, it seems that Vostro 1700 will not be updated to support SLIC 2.1. Therefore I have some technical questions before I start the update procedure using a BIOS mod. - The BIOS modding is done by including a SLIC 2.1 DELL OEM key into the original SLIC 2.0 BIOS. My question is if this key is the same in all DELL computers or not, because in future service packs even a BIOS mod could be detected as piracy if the key comes from a specific DELL computer. Does the Product ID indicated by windows depend on the BIOS key? - Some BIOSes are identified in SLIC area as M08, M09, BK9. What is this? - The only modified thing in the BIOS bin file is the SLIC zone and the CRC, isn't it? There is no risk of problems due to changes in other BIOS areas. - Will Windows Vista be be affected by the SLIC update? Thanks in advance for your answer. Best regards.
that is totally wrong...no key is inserted in the bios. A pubkey marker and a main marker are inserted in the bios.
OK, it is only a marker. Therefore I suppose it is the same marker for all the DELL bios. Sorry for my questions, I only want to learn a bit more about software licensing in BIOS. Do you know a good link to lear about this?
you can try a loader but I already know that Windows 7 WAT technology finds loaders no matter how well hidden and will disable windows 7 until you buy a proper license.... I am not sure what to tell you for those former days with vista easily being activated with bios emulators and loaders are gone with windows 7.
Thanks anyways. I appreciate your quick and helpful responses. I'll stop being a cheap bastard and buy a student copy then.
