Ok I will check this. I need to start bios extract process on the notebook late. That does not work on ordinary PC. Error says something about nonexist dell bios.
Mike, So that fact that i reused your APCI05.rom (thanks btw ) and I edited the rom.scr mean I should be OK right?. Did you need to do the XDST stuff as well?
Will do when i get home (and flash). unfortunately that wont be for quite some time (working away from home) Unless someone this thread it able to do it sooner?
winphlash64 complains that my OS isn't 64bit. Where can I find a winphlash that will work on 32-bit Windows 7? Also.. I did try a version of Winphlash that I found on a Gateway page. After trying to write block 1 of 31 several times, it fails the flashing with an error code of -149. Win7 completely hangs at this point (can't even move the mouse cursor) with the fan blasting.. and to shutdown, you need to pull the battery out. You then need to wait a while before the laptop will start up again (or even agree to draw power). It's all rather terrifying really. Alternatively, is there another flashing tool that I can safely use with this bios? (to write to a Dell Studio 1555) Thanks.
i hv dell studio 1555 and i installed windows 7 on it without a hitch... m so confused as to y u guys talikng bout modding n all wen all u need is hazar and orbit loader 1.2.... my studio now even shows dell logo with genuine icon... its rreally great thnx to hazar and orbit
Lo*der's might not work if MS ever patch it, also using SLIC is the same way as OEM's like do from the factory, so this is the best way to get win 7 activated at the moment i am to busy to try modding other laptop bios, sorry can only do the Studio 1555
Hello there, Is it possible to make the bios for inspiron 1420 as Slic 2.1 Bios? Do dell Inspirion laptops share the same bios among certain inspiron models? Thnx
I am a bit confused I have a 1555 and installed the rom given here.. But windows is still not activated How do I activate it for dell studio 1555 ??
I have the same problem, winphlash64 complains that my OS isn't 64-bit, as it's a 32-bit Vista. Would SWinFlash be safe to use with this?
I had the same proble, with a 32-bit windows, and the downloaded 32-bits version of winphlash (1.656) hangs. However I just extracted the winphlash version from the official dell bios flash to version A6 (7-zip can do this for you) and with this version I was able to flash my bios with the modded one. The winphlash version from dell is 1.696 by the way. The fan still starts blowing like crazy, but after 10 minutes it does get the job done.
