Update: Today i couldn't see much anymore with my right eye, the blur got worse, my hba1c blood sugar levels were spiking to 119 (last time i was tested it was 78 and best would be 54), seems like the new ozempic pills didn't work at all and the metformine stopped working too. When my gp noticed my very bad eyesight she sent me immediately to the eye doctor in the hospital. The diagnose was that i suffered from thrombosis in my right eye and now it contains fluid inside the eyeball. which give me the very blurred vision, next friday i have to go back for my first treatment. The treatment consists of 3 injections directly in the eyeball, for the next three or 4 months, this to get rid of the fluids and when all goes well some improvement of my eyesight. Yesterday when i had to use https://www.catalog.update.microsoft.com to fetch the updates i experienced real pain when looking a long time to that white website.
I hope everything goes as planned with your eyesight recovery. And if you need help with posting the download links for insider builds or the release preview builds, just let me know. And a small update on my situation, yesterday went to my GP to have my yearly blood pressure and blood test and good news on the blood pressure not as high as I expected (plus I've been cutting down on the takeaways). I got my blood test results, and it states that my cholesterol level has gone up slightly from 6.2 to 6.4, my GP usually aims for below 5. Apart from that everything else was okay.
I have been a T1 diabetic for 63 years, brittle for the last 50 years. I have been taking insulin injections all along w/ 4 shots probably the last 40 years using a sliding scale depending on my BS level. Times sure have changed since I was a kid w/ diabetes boiling my glass syringe & sharpening the needle on a sharpening stone. Now I use the FreeStyle Libre 3 Plus CGM for my BS (mg/dL) testing. I have 2 doctors. My PCP & a Endocrinologist. Below is my last blood test, I have been tracking them for many years
I hope and pray that you have an effective and quick recovery. Your health is our main goal. Big hug!
I've noticed on days or nights where I eat a high amount of carbohydrates, the next day I'll be groggy and a bit of blurry vision. I'm into Keto/LCHF and not having that happen was the most notable benefit.
Been to my GP and seen the diabetes nurse, and it's confirmed I now have type 2 diabetes. She has referred me onto opticians and foot people and also prescribed me some Metformin, in addition to my heart medication. So I will try and eat more veg or apples as that's the only fruit I like. I'm a fuzzy eater.
Last Wednesday the doctor made eye-photos again and the so-called "wet-eye" seems to be improving (the fluids are decreasing), it almost looks OK but the blood vessels didn't regenerate and my eyesight has gotten worse, where the doctor first said it could heal because i still was "young", it now seems to become more like damage control and my good eye will be monitored at a higher level than before, if this happens in that eye too i will be technically blind. The real weird thing is that the damage doesn't seem to be related to my diabetes (according to my GP there was nut much typical diabetes damage present, now and in the past) and it is not sure why this all is happening to my right eye. At the end of May they will do a deep scan of the blood vessels with contrast fluid to see if that will give a better view on what has happened. Also thinking of asking for a second opinion in a more specialized eye hospital.
Hope things do improve with the eyesight. unfortunately when you're diagnosed Diabetic, every problem that crops up, gets blamed on the diabetes. we still can get ill from other conditions, wear and tear etc. My own expected Hba1c being back in pre diabetic numbers never materialised, only hit 40. Can only assume slightly improved Insulin resistance, from the 5 years of non diabetic Hba1c results. Mind you being put on a low dose of Dapaglaflozin due to slightly leaky kidneys must have had bigger effect than i was expecting. This is partly why my carb intake increased, with the small concern of possible Edka. i have always railed against the medical professions wanting diet to alter to med's rather than the other way around, then find myself in the same sticky situation. I have had blood clotting problems myself, resulting in 2 strokes prior to diagnosis. Lets hope they really pull out all the stops, and get on top the problem.
Wow Enthousiast, please take care. I go see my preferred Ophthalmologist tomorrow, I go 1x a year for my T1 Diabetes. My PCP requests a report every time as I am going primarily to look for retinopathy in my eyes. They have a machine that snaps 3D digitized photos of each eye to look at the capillaries for any retinopathy. My brother had a bulging & hemorrhaging capillary & they fused it w/ a Laser so he wouldn’t go blind. Oh, BTW I found adding a small amount of (organic – low heavy metals) Cinnamon to my breakfast oatmeal seems to lower my BS, actually it has been running low during the day... around 56-68 mg/dL Edit: On the cinnamon I was using on my breakfast every AM I started getting a headache on the top of my head off & on for 2 days (I never get headaches) so I stopped using the cinnamon & no more headaches. It might have been something else but I'm thinking that was what it was.
Small update, I have a appointment on June 18th to have my eyes screened to see if my diabetes has caused any damage to my eyes. Unfortunately I used to wear glasses back in the day, but had to stop wearing them in 2007 due to me developing a allergic reaction to the nickel in the frames. I do intend to see a opticians in the near future as I do tend to squint a lot. Update 2 - I accidentally overslept last month and missed my eye appointment. But I have been offered a 2nd appointment which I will definitely be going as my eye sight is important, the appointment will be on July 18th at 2pm. It's not a normal eye examination, it's just to put dye drops in my eyes and take images of my eyes. Both me and my drs will get the results within three weeks.
The fluorescein angiography confirmed that my eye is gone, it won't improve that much anymore, now the damage control starts. In a week my bad eye will get laser treatment to calm down the internal bleeding, in an attempt to try to prevent it starting to hurt (in the future).
Sorry to hear that Enthousiast. Good news is the laser treatments are painless. Hoping for the best for you. EPRob
@steven4554 I hope "near future" is past and you have wisited a good optician by now, don't waste time on MDL. Off topic but I have been sort of a helper for a friend (not close one) lately in a total different matter (neurological) and i'm both amazed and really sad regarding how rapidly a human body can respond (and deteriorate) Back to topic, please don't waste time and health care has always been in best hands with professionals. Kindest regards
Hiya @Enthousiast Did the laser treatment go as planned? And above all and most importantly: successfully?
The laser treatment was done, the evaluation will be in august, but my vision is worse now, it was not a healing treatment but to shutdown some internal bleeding so the eye won't get to much pressure so it could start hurting. Now it is even darker in that eye, and my "good" eye needs to adjust again, i guess, but atm i don't dare to drive a car and assembling 2 pc's this week was not my best idea but it is getting done, with long pauses and a lot of swearing Friday i will get the usual monthly avastin injection and can talk to my usual eye doctor for a minute to ask confirmation about the need for my other eye to adjust to the lasering of my bad eye.
Hoping the darkness will clear somewhat. And, according to our new rules, it's okay to swear in dutch, as long as it's done privately.
