My dell Inspiron 1525 is suffering from the infamous error message at POST: "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined. Your system will operate slower and the battery will not charge. Please connect a Dell 65W AC adapter or higher for best system operation." Unfortunately, I am unable to charge the battery ("plugged in, not charging" error in windows). I have replaced the powerjack, battery, and charger, and I still have this problem, I believe that it is a problem with the motherboard. I was wondering if there was someone here who is able to modify the DELL bios to bypass this annoying feature. The bios info is: Release Date: 12/2/2009 Version: A17 Download Type: BIOS File Format: Non-Packaged File Size: 1018 KB The filename is 1525_A17.EXE
This is an ACPI problem and you cant disable it in the BIOS. Check your motherboard perhaps the powermanagement chip (most of the chips are produced by maxim) is defect or isnt soldered right to the motherboard. If you still think its the BIOS you can flash the newest version (Maybe you have to edit the flasher because usually you need to be connected to a psu to flash a BIOS.)
