u might be right, i use 512kbps connection, in terms of slow updating servers of avast, on updating first time it could be 10 to 20mb(that might be annoying) but if u even update it after 2 to 3 days it has only Kilbyes to update. as far as ANCESTOR query about which is best i would go for AVAST free.
I've used Avira Premium for almost 2yrs & now from last 8month im using free version, The only problem i see is the update speed of free version & only one auto-update in 24hrs. i didn't see any advertisement popup. It going very fine with comodo, i generally keep the sandbox disable & enable only when i need. I haven't used malwarebytes & don't feel it necessity. indeed, its very confusing to reach the required setting, you need to struggle for at-least 5 minute , clicking all menus/section btw their anivirus is not that good, detection rate is very slow & far too many false, nagging & irritating detection.
Where's Microsoft Essentials? :/ No love for Microsoft's own free and good Antivirus + Malware? I do find it laggy on old PCs though.
On one of my computers, I only mainly surf the web. On that I only have sandboxie (use the browser sandboxed) plus on-demand scanner (mbam). Theres no resident AV, I scan usb sticks with mbam before sticking them in. Works great.
If you look in the Avira programme directory you find the AVG engine, they are pretty much the same thing so it must be the definitions that they use.
I don't find too many torrents of products like Kapersky and end up buying it. The torrents tend to be of old versions. Plus, I wonder about someone splicing in malware. I tried AVG Free and was not impressed. Is it best just to buy your antivirus software?
Download setup files from publisher's website then google for keys Kaspersky keys have a short life and get blacklisted quickly, so i suggest you download Eset and google can help you with the rest
I vote for AVG. I currently have 2 old PC (Win7 x32) and 1 Super PC with AVG (free edition) 1 old PC (Win7 x32) with Avira (free edition) 1 Laptop (Win XP) and 1 old PC with SEP (licenced edtion) I have also tested Avast (free and licence), Panda, MSE… The antivirus are very effective on a given date. Their classification evolves/moves very quickly. In short, I don't have a philosophy on the question
