Oh no not another AntiVirus thread try searching before opening up threads relating to such things that have been answered before.
Symantec I use Symantec Endpoint Security in all machines, including WIN Server 2008 R2 x64. A totally and complete different product to Norton. Intrusion Prevention in the network protection side is ultra brilliant. Symantec purchased Sygate and put this famous enterprise firewall in it. It is a real brilliant product. Takes almost not much resources. Though destined for enterprise home user can buy the small biz edition and is not that expensive. I have also tried Avast and Kaspersky and very good as well. AVG, had a very bad experience with version 7 and since then I do not want to touch them. I have 11 machines at home and have done tests so my comments are based on my own flesh.
No antivirus is perfect but i think kaspersky is one of the best using it for 4 years no problem until now
that's what I use! best combo as its light and the most secure Eset used to be good now their protection level is amongst the worst
I have my Antivirus from my ISP provider,I paying for 2 EUR/month.Is Norton Internet security online 2013
The best free antivirus solution is Avast who offer,in my conception,a good protection for free version of AV.The payed one I think is good to use KAV or Symantec.

I found Avast to be resource hog slowing PC down like ball and chain (on par with Norton AV), not to mention its ugly GUI blasphemising Windows UX design concepts and annoying “virus db has been updated…” notifications popping up during presentations, including nuts driving sound effects. Before MS released Security Essentials I was happy with NOD32. Because MS significantly improved its firewall, I have no need to use extra AV nor FW since Windows 7.
As an addition to your usual anti-virus software I recommend you to also scan your computer with Malwarebytes Anti-Malware tool, then and then. It can find malware that other anti-virus fails to find. Best of all, it is free!
Avast 8 (currently RC2) does work well, they resolved the issues regarding Windows 8 BSODS that plagued Avast 7.x series. The issues with Avast 7.x weren't actually there when Windows 8 was released, they started with an update for one of the networking components and the Avast team never seemed to be able to make Avast 7.x series compatible even with patches. Avira also have a Windows 8 compatible antivirus now, both for paid and free versions. It too is still in testing (has been for a while), and is currently at 'Update 10' (build 13.0.0.3393). A free signup to the beta program is required to access these downloads. Avira does have the occasional advertising popup relating to its own paid products, but that only occurs once a day during auto-update. It might seem annoying, but you have to remember that it, like Avast, is only good as a free product because of the paid versions. It's simply not economical for an antivirus to be completely free and provide numerous updates a day like Avast and Avira (as well as the paid programs like Kaspersky), and keep up to date with counteracting new threats.
Hi, I am using windows 7 genuine check os. And I am looking for using Microsoft Security Essential (MSE). I used antivirus Quick Heal previously. But I heard that MSE is freeware if os is genuine. But I don't know the power of MES. So, is it equal to or better than Quick Heal/Kaspersky/Norton360 ?
