    IMHO:

    - Free license: Avira Antivir
    - Paid license: Nod32

Try this mate, uninstall Kaspersky, then restart.
Install NOD32 Demo which functions just like the full version for 1 month.

Then see the performance difference for yourself :)

It totally blows Kaspersky out of the water in terms of performance. Detection wise, Kaspersky and NOD32 are the 2 best

I have been using NOD32 for 6 years and never had a problem with it or got a virus.

That's not a BAD choice when it comes to FREE antivirus solutions, but it falls right behind Avira. Avira AntiVir has better detection rates and is lighter on the system.

Just make sure to install the Avira no notify patch so u wont be bothered by the ads everytime you update. it'll then act like the full version :)

Oh ok, in that case, no point in switching, they're both top notch programs

Security Essentials is given freely by Microsoft and looks good too but takes time to remove virus. AVG 9.0 Free is also best. I also use it. It's pretty strong one. Try it.

The new version of MSE is due out sometime fairly soon. It's a bit beefier than the current public release. You can check out the Beta.

I recommend Norton 2011, i changed my view of norton completly. Before i would advice anyone to not use it because it was an memory/resource hog. But now it is so good. I use NIS2011, it has also cloud based things in it :)

I completely agree with you. I also switched to NIS 2011 from KIS 2011.

I just saw this on their website....anyone tried it? How good is it? And how does it affect system performance? Is it a resource hog?

Mind you I use NOD32 on my system just asking whether to install this on PCs that I fix or to stick to Avira Antivir FTW?
