I actually have used the comodo suite and I rate it fair. It does not use that many resources but it does have user required popups periodically. The one I tested was an old version mind you and the AV seemed good but there were those false possitives. Overall I would rate the firewall top notch but the AV not so good. I would honestly say that the firewall is much better then ESET's but ESET's AV beats Comodo's. Now they could have made it better with the 2011 version, I really don't know for sure on that.

Comodo Antivirus is relatively new and is improving all the time, Is it good enough to use as your main antivirus ? I would say not (not yet anyway)

On the other hand the firewall is top notch !

What you have to remember when comparing is that the Comodo suite is free and outshines a lot of paid security suites.

Couple the Comodo Firewall with Avast, Antivir or MSE and you will have top protection... all for free !!

"BTW Comodo Firewall 5 has been released with a new nice looking UI, much better than the previous versions"

    I'm using Comodo Firewall v5 now :)

The only reason why I never used 3rd party firewalls in the past was because of the very hard setup.......but this one is very easy to use and tell u if an app is trying to use the net with a possible recommendation to block or allow :)

Good to know that you decide to use a 3rd party firewalls, Comodo is one of the best in HIPS attack, you are now behind a 99999999999 miles Wall

Comodo's only benefit is their firewall and HIPS. Their antivirus blows. Stick with NOD32 and consider using Comodo's firewall to lock down you system.

It's listed on Softpedia, so it's clean if nothing else.

Gosh I'm almost too scared to scan some of my external drives because I have like A ZILLION FAKE POSITIVES - You know, stuff like KEY GENERATORS, EXE CRACKS etc... I store many complete install packages on my external drives and if I was not careful I could have a daily virus check pass through one of my 1 T.B. externals and depending on how my A/V is configured I might come back to find every one of my cracks and keygens ZAPPED to cyberland. I also have around 160 gigs about- for ITUNES, and some everyday MP3s have actually been detected as viruses (' still trying to figure this one). Thats the big problem with many of the popular torrent download folders these days, many actually have good software and cracks BUT you might have to first remove a trojan to get things to work. It's a weird world out there in cyberland these days. Years ago I don't recall finding so many, otherwise legit, "copyritten" software which works perfect but you first must detect, find, and remove things like trojan-viruses. Nowadays I mainly keep my eyes on the system drive, start-up, Windows Registry, and what I find running in RAM. I do always keep my C drive as clean as I can. I am starting to feel too old school too, I honestly have to google the definition of "portable antivrus" as I am not positive I understand the definition.

    Cheers.
