Yeah, but a free one has very limited servers. I think that it is a great one specially for USA and Canada (their fastest servers are in USA and Canada). Free one is also missing secure IP bind and easy speed testing of their limited servers.
Just signed up to Cyberghost, very impressed, easy to use, cheap and no impact on connection speed. This is a rolling monthly contract at aprox £4 per month for one device [£7 for up to 5 devices] As I only need a VPN on my main PC this contract is ideal for me.
Guys, just a reminder. This thread is for discussing about VPNs good for torrenting. Does not matter if they are free, although preferable, or paid. As long large file downloads are smooth, steady and trouble free with decent privacy, not pretty much secure either.
I would stay away from it because it cooperates as part of the fourteen eyes countries. Instead of me going into a long drawn out explanation of what that is, you can google it and get a clear informative explanation as to what it is. You see the problem with VPN's is that the ones that claim they do not log your information participate in the fourteen eyes countries and the rest of them log your information. People hear the word VPN and they think they are safe from prying eyes, truth is there are only a very minute number of VPNS where that statement would hold true and even then I would say NO, for the most part every VPN logs information in one way or another, even if it is encrypted in which case they hold the encryption keys and depending on what you may be using your VPN for, the authorities can come along and subpoena that information and / or have them hand over the encryption keys. So, are you ever REALLY anonymous or safe using a VPN? not really. If you want TRUE anonymity while surfing the web, install a virtual machine, on that virtual machine install Tails, install a VPN on Tails and use Tor to do your surfing, that will be the closest you can get to being TRULY anonymous on the web. Another piece of information while using a VPN, to minimize being able to be located, do NOT sign into any accounts you would normally sign into using your ISP, if you do or have done this your location can be pin pointed even though you are using a VPN. Updated Edit: All one needs to do is look at Peter Strzok and the FBI, they did this to a United States Presidential Candidate and President Elect without any permission, warrant or anything whatsoever. The DOJ and FBI do not think that laws and rules apply to them, they are above the law and can do whatever they please. What I am trying to say is that anonymity and security is just an illusion to a certain point, if they put their sights on you, after that it is game on and there is no hiding, no matter what you do.
Really, even though every connection you make over the VPN is encrypted? NordVPN is based in Panama, by the way.
I use it every day. It has no effect on download speed. The app hasn't been updated, but still works great. It allows you to download updated ipfilter.dat, so it's always up to date.
