Edit: Wait never mind discovered I was talking about something else so everyone can ignore this or even delete it if possible lol.
You can block their servers via about:config settings and system hosts file. It is effective. I have tried and done it.
You can use it only if you visit only trusted web sites. Otherwise there are serious security issues with older versions.
You can use command line 109.0.5414.149_chrome_installer.exe --system-level to update Chrome from an existing installation.
There is an advantage technically it's mostly for people who are doing clean installs, maybe integrating it into an ISO, or they just don't have Microsoft edge installed lol. Also, these updates usually take 1-3 days to roll out, so you can download this & manually update Microsoft edge using it if you for some odd reason can't wait for Microsoft to release the update. Oh, one last thing I thought of, it's nice to keep a log/list so people know what browser the latest/last version is. So, posting links is kind of a good thing.
Well opera started to prompt notifications for a security update, after applying them in a weird way (reinstalling) it appearing again..
What now.... Use the current version until it takes apart (the real Opera, which is unsupported since 2013, still works on 80% of current websites) Use a different browser Install a minimal Linux or W10 in a VM and browse the web from there. Hope that someone patches Opium to make it working on Win7 (I wouldn't take the breath) Upgrade to W10 Switch to Linux
