Interesting ! Does auto-updating work once it's installed or it's necessary to use CFF Explorer to manually update ?
Normally no. A well-coded portable version of a program will keep its settings in a separate .ini file for example and not the registry. That way it won't interfere with settings of a regular installed version.
I ran the portable version, I assume by clicking on launcher, and it ran, but with a vanilla opening screen. Then I closed THAT and tried running my normal Opera and my original opening screen with all its Speed Dials were gone and what displayed was the same screen that the portable version opened with. Does it make any difference which portable Opera I "install"...Win32 or Win64?? It's a good thing I copied the Opera folder and it accompanied Roaming/Opera Stable folder before I ran the portable. After I ran the portable, it seems some files were changed in the Opera Stable folder, what am I doing wrong??
I don't understand. Why do you want to run this software on the same computer. Pick one & stick with it. Or do not use portable on anything you run an installed version on. It would seem, based on your original comment & the version numbers, that these two versions are miles apart on top of being 2 different pieces of software created for 2 separate jobs. Use them for what they were designed for; just not on the same computer together. ;>((
Ok, I understand your comment/criticism. I had just thought with the portable version (which is 12 versions ahead of my installed one) I might want to use it if I ran into issues that the 95 version that was the last one Opera supported for Win7. Thanks a lot for your insight.
