I have been trying several times to install Supermium but my antivrus (Avira) keeps stopping the installation. It quarantines it and I can't see any way to get it out of quarantine. I am trying a download from Major Geeks and others. The supermium site itself won't open, just shows a "Forbidden code 403" message. Any idea what is going on? I haven't tried Softpedia because I find they add a lot of crapware to the downloads.

Where did you find a Firefox version 144 that works on Windows 7? All the other modified versions later than version 132 that I've tried, crash during installation on my Windows 7x64 system.

currently using official FF 115.28.0 on my W7 x64 System.
But is it the best solution? Do all websites stll work with this version probably? Now found the patched Versions from e3kskoy7wqk
there is also a patched ESR Version 140.4.0....

maybe better to use this one? or is it potentially unstable? any recommendations? i know there is Supermium too, but as a FF fan just want the best solution here. :)

Using same as you are. All of my critical & non-critical sites still work with ESR version of FF. One bank & one investment platform are complaining with warnings but neither has threatened to prevent my access. Until they do I will not worry about it too much. I have a couple lined up if I need them. In Jan 2026 I convert full time to my Zorin Core OS. It is my secondary right now (for last 3 years). At that time my browser will be 100% updated. Don't worry about it until you are blocked by someone. Then come back & read the last 3 pages of comments for clues & suggestions (or do that now). Good hunting.

I will not going to migrate to anything else until web is working. I am quite comfortable with this OS.

It is a personal choice. Once the security updates stop then each passing month opens your system up to more & more malware. If you bank, shop, game or visit streaming sites those are at high risk. Your system will fall further behind & many sites will not let you on.

    Something to consider.

Of course everyone have his own way to do things.
But chances are quite slim to none, i am behind h/w and s/w firewalls, all unnecessary services are turned off or substantially limited.
I am not visiting random sites only trusted ones.
Moreover profile don't have admin rights.

ps And frankly speaking starting from reverse logic hackers will not spent their time on unpopular os with low market share, i am sure that modern win sh#te will be more likely targeted.

Win XP's system restore is unreliable. Win 7 had the only system restore that works reliably.

Okayyyyy. I am sure there is a point or a problem in there somewhere. Danged if I can see it from here. I do think I read somewhere that Win7 had the most reliable version of system restore of any of the Win OSes to date. Based on that, I agree with you. Now; this being a browser forum; how does that info affect the price of coffee beans in China?

I may give a new browser a try once I convert to Zorin Core in 2026.

All hail @sp808 self-appointed speaker for EVERYONE on the browser forum. I must have missed that election. A proud investor in "Trolls R Us". Still an "open" forum or not, oh great dictator?
