Simply; not a chromium user. FF 115 & r3dfox working fine, still. Getting warnings for FF but no loss of service.
Another interesting detail about Supermium on Win 7. The bank's website identified my browser as Windows 11 Chrome.
There probably needs to be some spoofing to be able to go around some websites whining about your operating system and browser. Similar to android root nowadays where your rooting solution needs to obfuscate itself in order to get banking and other such apps to work.
I´ve been using the following browsers without issue in Win 7 Ultimate: SeaMonkey 2.53.23, Opera 12.18 x64, Otter 1.0.03, Falkon 3.1.0, r3dfox 148.02, mypal 78.0.2, Supermium. Some of roytam´s browsers will doubtless also work (they do in Vista) and Pale Moon has been mentioned.
Have added r3dfox-150.0.0.2161 en-US portable updating vs .148 & works smooth so far. Every release is a work in progress because the versions are based on Mozilla releases that only support M$10 & 11. So far he is doing a great job of turning off, blocking & removing anything anti-Win7 as well as removing telemetry. AI off by default. Job gets bigger with each new release from Mozilla. Kudos to him & his global group of volunteers. Every day I draw closer to Zorin OS & modified Brave only. 1 day at a time. ;>))
Since Supermium is Chromium-based, it can report a modern Windows version like NT 10.0 (Windows 10–11), so sites assume you’re on Windows 11.
Like phones, identities, sexual proclivities, etc. spoofing is a tool they (browsers) can ALL use. Like a VPN can put me in the middle of Russia during a s**te storm of angry drones. I am not there, of course, but my computer tells the outside world I am. Spoofing.
I have his latest. Used it for streaming basketball last night. I had not heard the news. Hope he continues on the project & it does not end. Amazing work on behalf of us Win7 cave people.
Today, May 27, 2026 I got my first REFUSAL for FF115.ESR. My bank, NFCU refused my access to bill pay functions. I already had FF 140.11.0esr 64bit loaded & updated with my bookmarks & PW's. A quick switch & all worked fine. FF 140.11.0esr 64bit is an extended release modified by r3dfox for us. That is where I down loaded it & this version still works with Win7. Above that version we can run into problems even though r3dfox is still modifying & stripping them for us. Mozilla is strictly supporting Win11 & above now. Even Win 10 is using ESR browsers. I will report back anything else as I run into it/them. All of my streaming sites, email clients VA .gov sites, SSA.gov & my various apps & MSE are still updated & working fine. My Zorin OS is loaded & always ready to go. ;>))
I have had no issues with redfox after switching from Firefox ESR. The other issue you will run into is even though you may be complaint with your browser, they are still checking the OS version and blocking you. I have a current issue with USBank that won't allow anything that is connected via my home network and will only work on my mobile network. They are really pushing the limit of incompetence and not doing enough testing on the restrictions they are imposing.
Last month I received a notice that my credit union would no longer work with Windows 7 after May 1st. Since I too had been experimenting with r3dfox, I added the "User-Agent Switcher and Manager" addon for Firefox to spoof Windows 10 and haven't had any problems since. Currently using r3dfox 150.03 and r3dfox 140.11 ESR.
I had read about those addons somewhere but forgot where. Thanks for mentioning them. I will add it to my tool chest as I have not yet had the Win7 denial problem but know it is coming. My VPN reveals my OS only as Windows without the version info. That is enough for now. Thanks both for the replies & likes. Few of us left & can use all the help we can get. Lol.
