Mine does: Go back to CCleaner. This is the one you like the most. That security breach could happen to anyone. Now under Avast watch things could likely go much better for Piriform. Think positive and give ' em one more chance. Don't complicate your choice, ultimately your life. My .02
My main cleaner: Wisedisk Cleaner Portable , very thorough. my secondary cleaner: Ccleaner Portable. Since they are portables, the build version is a bit behind than the installer one, so the Ccleaner issue didn't touch to me
It did to me, but due to my firewall blocked any attempts of connections, 2nd stage payload never run.
AppGuard, AppCheck, Sandboxie, SecureFolders, simplewall. As a trusted app (CCleaner) I always turn off AppGuard and AppCheck to perform any cleaning. The only ones that remained on were SecureFolders and simplewall. The latter saved my a**, I guess.
Trust no one Indeed, AG is so strong than you have to disable it to do cleaning. I suggest you to use an anti-exe with command line parser beside AG (like ERP), personally i use ReHIPS' application control feature for that usage. So even if an "allow mode" i have a backup "watcher" , not mentioning Emsisoft Anti-Malware.
not really true. Some products with customized settings ignore certificates. The real issue (that few seems to care) is how the perpetrators get into the server undetected... I agree. They already does. Malware doesn't popup by magic on a system, some unsecured actions have be taken by the user to get infected (unless targeted but this is not happening every day) Using proper tools may limit those attacks.
The latest version of CCleaner that worked great for me was 5.43. It was snappy and would load as soon as it was opened even with CCEnhancer WinApp2 file. Since version 5.44 or 5.45, CCleaner began taking good 5-6 seconds to load before cleaning could be performed. This is what it was like on 2 different PC's with 2 different Windows 10 versions. Any idea what happened, why, and how to get that snappy insta-clean goodness back with later versions of CCleaner?
for me, I still use CCleaner 5.32 (the pre-avast version) on some older computers since that one actually ran faster than the new versions it doesn't seem like newer versions will run a little faster than the old ones btw, I use CCleaner "slim" edition, not the standard or higher (pro) edition
Do not use 5.45. There are no significant differences between the others and everyone works great. PS If you use winapp2.ini - is it trimmed and suitabled for your system? If You uses not trimmed winapp2.ini, then the start of CCleaner is about three times slower than should. But it is not releted any way with CCleaner. There is nothing changed in the speed of CCleaner, and it has always been slow. And the latest one is not slower of any previous.
I am still trying to get rid off ccleaner, but I am looking for a cleaner that allows me to whitelist some cookies and delete the rest (the way ccleaner at least in theory i supposed to do) I just tried clean space from cyrobro, but they leave even more unwanted cookies... does someone know an alternative Thanks
