First i checked most of the features to add in WinBuilder, than followed the Acronis part and at least let the Builder create the ISO. The rest i always add by mounting the boot.wim and copying manually. I pimp it with choice.exe and it's mui to get my tool working, like murphy78 did for his apply script . WinNTSetup is a very nice solution. I added options to prepare Windows Boot Environment, add VHDs, apply WIMs and add to Boot Manager to my JATD script and made it running off the Win8.1SE. Acronis was the missing part in this AIO solution. Now i only need the Win8.1SE pen drive and switch out the WIMs i need .
Indeed . Thought i should test running a KMS Emulator on my Win8.1SE ... see yourself: Spoiler View attachment 29198
I use Clonezilla. You can reduce the number of files if you set the split file option to a big number (like 9999999999999999999999) so it only makes one image file. The other files are backups of MBR (if applicable), partition tables, boot loaders, etc.
Has anyone had a chance to check out the new Aomei backupper, new version 2.0.1? I do not have a spare machine to do it on.
And a bigger question--there are two urls to AOMEI and both look very professional. Which is the real place... aomeitech com [I can't post links] or backup-utility.com slash free-backup-software dot html Also, the aomeitech site does not have anything about a 2.0.1 version. This is suspicious, is it not?
built-in backup When I worked at Best Buy back in the day the only thing we'd capture if the client wrote "everything" was ProgramData and the Users folder.. that said, that was a while ago. The tool they used for backups was a modified GUI-version of Robocopy that copied as system, sorta like RichTools if loaded using psexec /s. Nerdily, when I used to do data backups in the past for migrations to a new disk I'd launch psexec /s remotely and then use wbadmin (built into windows) to make a backup image of all the volumes then I could restore it using the regular windows tools in WinRE/ DaRT. It worked great except when the target drive was smaller.. in which case I would have to edit a bunch of xml files, partition tables and waste a bunch of time. I did it this way because the hard drives I worked on were encrypted, so to get the drives to work in PE would mean finding the correct API for the disk encryption and patching PE. It's a little bit of a hassle, but at least in a pinch all the tools are on your system for working with these files. Only thing I think I remember about making backups of theses systems that's bizarre, is that backups corrupt Sys Vol.. so volume shadows are hard to keep. Robocopy in PE strips shadows (built-in), but Hobocopy does not (downloadable). Anyone else use wbadmin launched as system? I did it this way to avoid the encryption hassle, and so I could sit at my desk and not bother the user, remotely create the backup file.. then I'd use RichTools to quickly push it over the network to my data server, then I could restore the new computer or just keep the image (bunch of xml & vhd files). Anyway, thought it'd be neat to share the bizarro way I did it so I wouldn't have to leave my desk.
Just to update the List above with the LATEST : ACRONIS TRUE IMAGE 2014 PREMIUM Latest Build: #6688 (268.74 MB2014-08-20) Product native bootable media Build: #6688 Size: 436.50 MB Date: 2014-08-20 00:00:00
Hmmm ... Beta installed and activated flawlessly . But when i try to download the PE package i get a 404 error .
OK ... check . Used the direct link for Acronis and installed on Win 8.1 Pro x64 so i found the key under: Code: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Acronis\TrueImage
I'm on it now ... will report my progress . EDIT:=========== Could you elaborate how you added files and drivers correctly, seems i'm missing something here. So far no success here .
I just tried a rebuild using the Acronis Disk Director 12 script. Got the key from reg & built ok. When I run it from Win8.1SE it's crippled. If I click on about no key is shown. I must be missing something too...
Yep. I know exactly what you mean. For some (still unknown) reason I originally could not even get a fully working build. On some systems I'd just get a black screen & only the mouse would work. I did read your replies to someone else regarding similar issue. Anyway, just need to get some good tools on there & I'll be set!!!
