I tried on Desktop, Laptop, and Windows 10 Tablet and XDM could not out IDM. IDM is on all 3 machines faster in both 64bit (Desktop and Laptop) and 32bit (Tablet). The difference is about 10-20% for the same files from the same links. Still, IDM is payware while XDM is Freeware! And XDM is the best Freeware Download Manager id had used.
I use IDM, FDM and XDM on my 4 Win 10 64 bit laptops. Speed is same for me, some downloads are faster with IDM, some with XDM and some with FDM. I have used initial versions of XDM too. Dev has improved XDM a lot. Hope the development remains active on a normal level.
As I wrote, I used the exact same files via the same exact Link to download on three different machines and on all three XDM is 10-20% slower as on IDM. And that is constant on the different machines. The internet connection I used for that, is in my Office and there I'm connected to a Leased Line, means there isn't any 'down' because of the sharing of the line by the ISP! The connection is 50/50MBps and the speed tests are showing 65MBps down and 58MBps up on a constant level. At my home is similar, there I've 50/25MBps on Cable and get via speed tests up to 68MBps down and 32MBps up. And my ISP is using a 1 to 5 sharing on Cable (on ADSL 1-25!!). As I'm back in evening, I'll also check at Home but think there would be any different outcome. Overall, that app is working well, so it is not bad at all. And it is free!
OK, done the same testing from my home's connection and the outcome is exactly the same. Good Application and it's free, just could not beat IDM!
I was using Xtreme Download Manager but it is unable to take over download from websites like UPLOAD.EE and DROP.ME Therefore I moved to Internet Download Manager.
I have noticed the same with seedr.cc. It seems XDM doesn't take over the downloads from these kinda websites. I will mention this to the developer.
well, after I got to know this software I use it all the time. for me, of course, it's the best there is currently and what's more, it's free.
Really like this one, thanks. This software also downloads Youtube videos better than any browser app.
