I don't know why people are downplaying the existence of all language packs for this build. Regular Insider Previews are only released in a handful of languages; final ("RTM") builds—10240, 10586, and 14393—are released in all languages. This is the Anniversary Update, it has been confirmed by multiple trusted sources on Twitter such as Zac Bowden. And everything seems to indicate it will be released today for Insiders too.
I can't post links here yet, so I'm just going to quote his tweets: "Hearing murmurs that 14390 has been declared RTM. We shall see." "So, there's a reason I haven't wrote about 14390 being RTM, and that's because there was a chance it would end up not being said RTM." "So Insiders will be getting one more RS1 build before August 2nd, which will be the RTM." Finally, yesterday he retweeted his earlier tweet "Okay last round: Guess RS1 RTM number! 14393," adding "I was right! (Tweeted July 6th)."
He wasn't wrong, he'd just heard things, which is why he didn't actually confirm it was RTM. And of course he has "real sources." I'm not going to continue this pointless drama any further, we'll see about 14393 being RTM or not.
In fairness to Zac, Microsoft did have every intention of making 14390 the RTM, it just failed to meet their standards (who knew Microsoft had standards for RTM releases? I didn't, given some of the turds they've pushed out). Zac made the stupid mistake of jumping the gun - when he tweeted that 14390 was RTM, it was before the actual decision had been even taken internally. I suspect it's a mistake he'll learn from. I know I have - I'll not be using the BuildFeed account to endorse a tweet of his without double-checking it myself first. It's still less of a crime than the constant 14400 nonsense WZor has been pushing out - I mean what the hell sort of suggestion was 10.1.14400.16384? You don't need to have "sources" to work out that's a crock of crap. As for indicators, lang packs are good, and so are the presence of ZDP compiles, but they're admittedly by no means indicators of certainty. Nothing is purely saved for RTM - there'd be too much of a risk of something creeping in one of these RTM-only parts. For example, patches obviously get tested both on public and private builds throughout the development process. The presence of a build later than 14393 would also not prevent 14393 being RTM - post-RTM builds almost always happen. 10587 was there for th2. With th1, some labs compiled right on into the 1026x before finally switching to track th2. I wouldn't say 14393 is guaranteed to be RTM, but I would say that every indicator we have available to us would suggest that this is the case. We do know Engineering Signoff was on Friday 15th, so I can't see it being any newer build unless there was such a run of terrible builds that we'd have definitely heard about, which we haven't.
To be fair, I don't think that this suggestion was sincere in any way. People just failed to get the joke. Because those people are ignorant of the intention of the thread and only come here for download links. They fail to comprehend that there might be a reason for a "discussion" thread with a purpose other than begging for and posting download links in all sorts of languages, showing off screenshots with the download progress, or giving download speed reports. Of course there is nothing at all that could even question the existence of this build, they just like to bitch around because nobody's feeding them download links. But, apparently, that's the state of affairs nowadays. It's a shame that this is what the board has come to for a large part, compared to what it was a few years ago.
My problem is not with the content of this thread but at one hand, the title (being a copy of former official threads where esd's could be downloaded) and on the other hand even more wit the fact that earlier prematurely posted threads were closed with the words: wait till it's officially announced.
Why would anyone expect the release of a build at the start of business Monday, if it was not released on Friday by end of business day?
Dona tends to operate outside the rules of timeframe that Gabe followed. It could literally drop any time today.
