IDM does not catch download files in MS Edge. latest version. sometimes working in Firefox, sometimes not.
Once I updated to Chrome 144, IDM can no longer take over my downloads. Both IDM and its Chrome extension are updated to the latest build. Anyone having this issue? Edge is fine.
I sent IDM support this, Hello IDM Team, After a recent Google Chrome update, IDM no longer intercepts regular file downloads (ZIP, EXE, PDF, etc.). Important details that isolate the issue: IDM works correctly with Microsoft Edge IDM still downloads YouTube videos in Chrome Older Chrome versions work normally Updating Chrome immediately breaks interception Reproduced on a clean VM (older Chrome → works, update Chrome → broken) Reinstalling IDM and the Chrome extension does not resolve it “Use advanced browser integration” is enabled This suggests the issue is caused by a recent Chrome change to the download pipeline / sandboxing, not a local configuration problem. Because media stream capture still works, IDM itself appears functional — only Chrome’s standard download handoff is affected. Please advise whether: This is a known compatibility issue with recent Chrome builds A fix or workaround is planned Chrome interception support has been limited or deprecated by Chrome Thank you.
I see it's working now. Very most likely because of some Chrome component updates. So run chrome://components and update everything. IDM should work again in Chrome. Well, It's working now, but it should be interesting to hear what IDM have to say about it. Thank you.
It works now, thanks champ. I ininitially tried to update the components from chrome://components then restarted Chrome, it still wouldn't download with IDM. Then I tried checking for updates in Chrome but it gave me an error that the updater cannot check for updates. I tried starting the service manually but it gave me the below error: I then just reinstalled Chrome (without uninstalling it) and it fixed the issue preserving all my settings/login cookies and now IDM works.
