Version numbers aside, I see it more like: W7 was just a modified Vista, yes, but W8 is a lot more than just a modified W7 (this does not mean it's better)! It's a huge transition, more even than what Vista was relative to XP. It's maybe even bigger than Win 3.1 to Win95. So, if Vista was a big shift from XP, both in UI and underpinnings, and W7 was the "fix" for that, then I see what we're going through now exactly the same: W8 is a big shift from W7, both in UI and underpinnings, and W9 will be the "fix" for it. That is if they don't scrap Metro's ass and start over. But I highly doubt that they will, since Metro is going to work pretty nicely on tablets as it does phones (this does not mean it's necessarily going to sell well on those platforms), and this is MS's emphasis now. I read what you wrote earlier on this, but what's the specific objection again? You still have a local profile with the so-called Microsoft profile. You're just logging in with your online identity so that things of your choosing can be synced from machine to machine. Ignoring that, it behaves exactly like a local profile to me, because it is. What am I missing?
Hello I recently installed Widnows 8 Release Preview, I installed all drivers, I also installed and Games for Windows Live, but I have problems with games. For example when I try to run F1 2011, nothing happens, I see in the task manager that it has been auto-killed. The same happens with F1 2010. When I try to run another games I get an error like this - "(the name of the game).exe has stopped working. I didn't have that kind of problem with Windows 8 Consumer Preview and with Windows 7. My specs are: - Intel Core i7 (2.2/3.1) - 8GB RAM - NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M Can anyone help me to run the games?
